Hi everybody. How are you? I hope you're okay. I hope you are still eating well and having fun. Almost every week I watch Korean dramas. Besides being easily accessible, Korean dramas have taught me a lot. One of them is about mental health. The drama that raises about mental health is "It's Okay to Not Be Okay".

Mental health is a consideration for all of us during the COVID-19 pandemic. Without interaction with other people, work piled up or no work becomes the most talked about on social media. Pandemic and mental health seem like two things that are difficult to avoid. In fact, I even had some mental problems during the pandemic.

However, long before the COVID-19 pandemic, we all experienced mental problems without realizing it. Whether we realize it or not, mental problems or childhood trauma will last into adulthood. In this drama, both the lead actress and the supporting roles suffer from mental health issues.

Then, how can everyone be healed? How can the main character come to terms with the trauma of the past that haunts him? I will answer those two questions in this review.

Synopsis

This drama is about a nurse named Moon Kang Tae (played by Kim Soo Hyun) who works at a hospital in the psychiatric department who earns 1.8 million won every month. He meets a writer named Ko Moon Young (played by Seo Ye Ji) who has anti-social personality disorder. This mental health drama is wrapped in a romance between the main characters, Ko Moon Young and Moon Kang Tae. As a person who works in a hospital, there are many patients that moon kang tae has to take care of.

There is a lot of friction with patients that moon kang tae faces. Until the end, Moon Kang Tae has to meet Ko Moon Young. On his journey, Kang Tae doesn't believe in love. Moon Young doesn't understand love because of past trauma. Between the two, there is also Moon Kang Tae, an autistic brother named Moon Sang Tae. The two find their own souls and identities when they fall in love. Both have to live and help the tae.

Mental Problems experienced by the Main Character

In this drama, every heroine has mental problems. First, Sang Tae has a traumatic past during the murder of his mother and suffers from ASD. Then, Moon Young has a past trauma from treating her possessive mother. Meanwhile, Kang Tae has a past wound due to his mother's indifference.

All of each character's mental health problems stem from childhood trauma. Moon Young, who has a very possessive mother, makes herself an antisocial, hot-tempered, and insensitive woman. In the first episode, Moon Young is with a beautiful girl. However, Moon Young makes the girl cry.

Furthermore, Kang Tae who is often neglected by his mother, ends up experiencing his own feelings often. The pain and sadness he experienced continued to improve. In some scenes it is also seen that Kang Tae often avoids some problems. Have you ever felt neglected? Then, how each character overcomes this?

In the early episodes, it was actually quite interesting. This drama introduces the psychological butterfly hug method. Kang Tae tries this technique on Moon Young's growing anger. One of these techniques is to overcome emotional outbursts and eliminate emotional trauma. This technique was developed by a doctor who treated victims of Hurricane Paulina in Mexico in 1997.

Ending and lessons to be learned

The ending in this drama was quite interesting. In fact, everyone wants to be in the positions of kang tae and moon young. They date each other and heal each other. Kang tae became the one who controlled moon young's emotions while moon young tried to help kang tae let go of repressed feelings.

From this drama, we can all learn a lesson if forgiving, understanding and making peace are ways to escape from past trauma. That's how Kang Tae, Moon Young and Sang Tae began to recover from their childhood trauma. We can learn in the real world too. Another thing, if you feel bad, it's not a problem. Having made peace with the past, we need to move on with our lives.

From this drama, I believe if after we make peace with the past, we will get love and can form a generation of childhood trauma. I'm sure we all have problems. But can we let that continue for generations?

Of Korean series I definitely loved this one, besides all the development on mental health issues, it is worth mentioning the use of children's literature throughout the series is great, I think I read once that they are stories that were created especially for the series (I still have to check the information again).

There is a story that fascinated me and it is the one about the "happy dog", each story has a message to give us, it is a very funny and entertaining series.

I also saw one called "Landing in your heart", I laughed a lot with that one and it is very nice.
Greetings and success.
