A colossal film seems to be one that is hard to find these days. What's more, films based on true stories are always hard to find. There are many historical stories that have not satisfied us in a number of films. In fact, the films presented are too brutal. Some blood and fights are served ferociously. But, will the "The Last Duel" be any different from other colossal films? Let's answer in this review. Let me tell you a little bit, if this film becomes a quality film. Because it raises norms and morals in a very interesting cinematic.

Synopsis

The film is based on events in France. The Hundred Years' War is engulfing France. One of the knights named Jean de Carrouges played by Matt Damon has been fighting for over a year. When Jean returns from the war, Lady Marguerite de Carrouges, played by Jodie Comer, admits to being raped by her friend, Jacques LeGris, by Adam Driver. The news made Jean challenge LeGris to a duel, the rules of winning and losing.

why i watch this movie

This film is a very interesting film for me. this is also the reason I watched this film to the end. Anything?

1#. Quality work from Ridley Scott

Ridley is one of the most successful directors in colossal film. But, for this time, Ridley took a story from medieval France. But this story becomes very interesting because it proves the truth of a rape incident. At that time, the law was still running. There are scenes of bloodshed, sometimes even high enough for me who rarely watch colossal films. Everything is interesting and packaged in such a short time. The film is two hours long.

2#. Stunning acting from every player

In this film there are famous actors like Matt Damon and Adam Driver. Both are able to carry a strong character. Matt Damon appeared straightforward while Adam Driver became an antagonist who was full of charm. In addition, there is Jodie Comer's acting who is a central figure in the rape incident. His acting is able to bring the audience into this as if it happened to the audience.

Lessons and Messages Taken in Film

In a number of films watched, there are many important lessons that can be used as lessons in our lives. as well as in this film, the following are interesting messages and lessons in this film:

1#. women are the aggrieved parties in certain cases

This story becomes an interesting story where marguerite asks for justice for the rape committed by Jaqcue. Marguerite was branded as a bad wife, and even she was shunned by her best friend. The thing Marguerite did was convince her husband that the rape wasn't a lie. actually what Marguerite feels is often felt by other rape victims. Marguerite was a victim but no one sympathized with the victim.

Marguerite's mother-in-law is also cynical about the case facing her daughter-in-law, Marguerite. Until finally there was a battle to prove who was lying with death. The accusations continue to this day against the victim. The absence of witnesses in the case made it difficult for the victim to find the truth. Not to mention the police who always corner the victim. I find it very difficult to be a victim of rape.

2#. The fight is not to defend the victim

Actually, I was a little annoyed by the fight that was going on. Because, not looking for the truth, but maintaining human dignity. Jean maintains his pride as a husband. Meanwhile LeGris maintained his pride as a knight. If LeGris was deemed a liar, his pride as a knight would plummet. From a legal point of view in France, a wife is the husband's responsibility. So, LeGris should be tried for crimes against Jean, not his wife.

Actually, this film is about male pride. In Indonesia, precisely in Madura, events like this are already familiar. That's one way to maintain the dignity of a married man. This kind of tradition is called carok. The guarantee is his death for the loser. Nothing can stop this tradition. This is an ingrained culture.

3# It's Hard to Be Honest

In this film I agree that honesty is the most difficult thing to do. LeGris had a hard time admitting his mistakes. LeGris would rather fight than admit his mistakes. LeGris wanted to maintain his dignity as a man and a knight.

Final review

The fight that is presented in this film, is shown against a clear background, the rape of a knight's wife. I think the final duel is a very brave and very sensitive film to be brought to the big screen. The message is timeless. All messages displayed are very close to our lives. And this film emphasizes the historical value of the past.

5 years this has been happening to me, it started here, around people that are still here. Homeland security has done nothing at all, they are not here to protect us. Dont we pay them to stop shit like this? The NSA, CIA, FBI, Police and our Government has done nothing. Just like they did with the Havana Syndrome, nothing. Patriot Act my ass. The American government is completely incompetent. The NSA should be taken over by the military and contained Immediately for investigation. I bet we can get to the sources of V2K and RNM then. https://peakd.com/gangstalking/@acousticpulses/electronic-terrorism-and-gaslighting--if-you-downvote-this-post-you-are-part-of-the-problem

I loved this movie, divided into the three points of view of the three main characters and culminating in the final duel. The whole cast is great, a great movie, but I love Jodie Comer, because I follow her since the series Killing Eve, where she played a killer. Excellent film by Scott, I liked this one better than The House of Gucci.

presenting 3 views from the exhibition giving the audience its own point of view. I like that part too.

I saw it some time ago and I am not a follower of medieval films, I think there are very few that I have come to see and certainly this is my favorite, not for the performances or the setting but rather for the drama that was created through a deception where at first glance it is difficult to know who is lying and who is not since the result of this deception was death.

A movie to watch more than once and be clear that times have changed and if we were still living in that time everything would be different or who knows.

me too with you. if there's a gimmick that's hard to see.

At the beginning, it was a little difficult for me to understand this film. but by providing 3 different points of view, this film becomes very interesting.

Yes, that's a great detail since you not only get the men's perspective but also the woman's and no matter who is telling the truth it's interesting since as a viewer you draw your own conclusions. 😎🥃🎬
