Hi, moms and dads.

The girls are on vacation, so the three of us went to the movies together—it had been a year since the three of us had gone. That day, I had no idea what was playing, so I went straight to my browser. After checking out the Cines Unidos website, our options were Moana, The Minions, or Toy Story 5. The girls chose the last one without hesitation, even though they hadn’t seen the previous movies in this popular franchise.

We arrived at the Metrosol shopping center, where Cines Unidos is located, and bought tickets to see Toy Story 5. Since it was the weekend, ticket prices were higher, but it’s best to go on a Monday when tickets are cheaper. We had to wait until showtime, so to pass the time, the girls played in a small park near the movie theater.

Before going into the movie theater, I bought two small popcorn combos—one for each girl—which cost $5.50, and some gummy candies because the girls really like them and I wanted to make them happy on this outing.

We settled into our seats at the movie theater, but Abby was a little scared—she doesn’t like the dark, and she finds it uncomfortable when the seat moves because she’s so thin. I had to sit her on my lap to make her feel safe so we could watch the trailers for the movies coming out soon.

The movie started, and from the very first moment, it stirred up a range of emotions in the girls. First, they saw LilyPad (my oldest daughter had already seen her in a YouTube video), and Abby recognized Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, since they’re part of her toy collection. As for me, I found the movie very touching, since Jessie just wanted Bonnie to make real friends and not focus on LilyPad.

The lesson I took away from the movie was that, as a mother, it’s important to help my children make good use of technology and that I should always help them form genuine bonds with other children, since they won’t find what makes them happy through a screen—trying to fit in where they don’t belong. Playing with toys is part of their childhood, and replacing them is like pushing them to grow up too fast.

Hola, mamitas y papitos.

Las niñas están de vacaciones, así que juntas fuimos al cine a ver una película teníamos un año sin venir las tres, ese día no tenía idea de la cartelera, así que me fui directamente a mi navegador y después de darle un vistazo a la página de Cines Unidos teníamos como opciones ver Moana, los Minions o Toy Story 5, así que las niñas eligieron la última opción sin dudarlo, aunque ellas no habían visto las películas anteriores de esta reconocida saga.

Llegamos al centro comercial Metrosol, donde se encuentra Cines Unidos y compramos las entradas para ver a Toy Story 5, como era fin de semana las entradas tenían un incremento en el costo, pero lo ideal es ir un día lunes cuando son más económicos los boletos, debimos esperar hasta la hora de la función y para pasar el tiempo las niñas jugaron en un pequeño parque que se encuentra cerca del cine.

Antes de entrar a la sala del cine compre dos combos de cotufas pequeñas, una para cada niña, tenían un costo de 5,50$ y unas gomitas porque a las niñas les gustan mucho y quería complacerlas en esa salida.

Nos acomodamos en las butacas del cine, pero Abby tenía un poco de miedo, a ella no le gusta la oscuridad y le parece incómodo que el asiento se mueva porque es muy delgada, tuve que sentarla en mis piernas para darle seguridad y así poder ver los trailers de las películas que están pronto a estrenarse.

Empezó la película y desde el primer instante empezó a crear una serie de emociones en las niñas, empezando por ver a LilyPad (ya mi hija mayor la había visto en un video en YouTube) por otra parte Abby reconoció al Sr. y la Sra. Cara de Papa, ya que forman parte de sus juguetes, yo por mi parte encontré la película muy emotiva ya que Jessie solo quería que Bonnie hiciera amigos de verdad y no se concentrara en Lilipad.

La enseñanza que me dejó la película fue que como madre es importante ayudar a mis hijos hagan un buen uso de la tecnología y que siempre hay que ayudarles a crear vínculos sinceros con otros niños, ya que a través de una pantalla no van a encontrar aquello que los haga felices, intentando encajar en donde no pertenecen, jugar con juguetes es parte de su niñez y reemplazarlos es como empujarlas a crecer más rápido.
