Let me give you a quick rundown of the plot: the protagonists are two brothers—one is serious, studious, and mild-mannered, while the other is a reckless, irreverent, small-time crook who has just been released from prison. The younger, serious brother has planned a road trip with a female friend he has a crush on; he’s supposed to pick her up and take her along in his new car, but before he can get her, he has to go fetch his brother from jail. They make an odd pair—one very calm, the other a total live wire. While driving—equipped with a CB radio—the rebellious brother suggests playing a prank on one of the truckers, a guy who goes by the handle "Rusty Nail." Lewis, the calmer brother, pretends to be a woman named "Candy Cane," and they have a great time teasing the trucker, who seems smitten with the voice on the radio. To pull off the prank, they even arrange a date at a motel, telling him to bring champagne and go to a specific room number. The brothers plan to stay in the room next door so they can witness the trucker’s surprise when, instead of "Candy Cane," he finds another motel guest—a huge, burly man with a far-from-peaceful temperament.

However, their playful prank quickly takes a dark turn when the man and the truck driver appear to get into a scuffle in the next room; the next morning, the brothers discover that the man from the adjacent room has been brutally murdered. Terrified, the brothers report everything to the police and continue their journey, but it seems the truck driver didn't appreciate the joke and has no intention of leaving them alone—instead, he wants revenge. They find themselves pursued by a strange truck, and their radio conversations grow increasingly unsettling; a harrowing journey of fear and terror ensues as the trucker runs down and kills anyone standing between him and his targets—the brothers who mocked him. A high-speed chase follows, filled with crashes, bloodshed, threats, and fear, culminating in "Rusty Nail" kidnapping Lewis's friend, who had joined them in the car. The film is essentially one long, wild race against time—and, more importantly, against a sadistic serial killer who devises countless ways to torment and harm the brothers and those close to them. It is a classic, high-tension horror flick—bordering on "trashy"—featuring car chases, brutal murders, and a relentless trail of terror. While it makes for an enjoyable watch on a hot or lazy day for genre fans, it certainly doesn't offer anything particularly new or different from the many other horror movies with similar plots.
