They Cloned Tyrone Film Review: Who is Real and who isn't?

Pause for a second and imagine that your entire life isn't exactly what you know it to be. That you are living a life that has been lived times without number by other people, other people that are just like you—precisely like you—and you are just another YOU on a chess board. Radically insane, innit? But if that's actually true, what would be your next line of action?

The concept of cloning has been around for many years in the film industry. There are a lot of films that have portrayed it in many different ways, each with varying degrees of intrigue and levels of relevance. Yet again, we have another film about cloning, with its title spelling that out: They Cloned Tyrone.

If not for the term "cloned," I may have never considered the film. So I do think that the title is apt. And, also, the title raises the question, "Who are they that cloned Tyrone? Making it all the more interesting. That piqued my interest. Otherwise, the glimpse of the film I got gave me the impression that I wasn't going to like it. Seeing that it was about some sci-fi stuff concerning cloning, giving it a try sounded like a good idea.

Before anything else, I should say that one of the many things that appealed to me was the sound in this film. The first song I heard, right at the beginning, kind of enticed me to like the film already. And, then, many of the songs were just really nice to listen to, generally contributing to making the film an enjoyable one.

The film starts in a very natural way, like a regular day in the 80s or something, until, you know, something pretty interesting happens. That wasn't long after the show began, and so I got even more intrigued about what could be in store in this film. And it kept getting more appealing as it continued.

For some reason, comedy has a way of making films more likeable when it's done right. Right from the beginning of the film, there were many moments where I found myself laughing at the obvious and subtle comic lines here and there, especially in the dialogues between the characters.

There was a scene when some characters had to make up characters in the film and play them. In one of the moments when they were "rehearsing" their lines, there was a hilarious moment where one of them compared their performance with those by Denzel Washington in Training Day and The Book of Eli.

This is a sci-fi movie, so to speak; however, I couldn't help but think that my cravings for actual sci-fi weren't satisfied. It seemed a bit shallow as it didn't delve into the things that one may be used to from sci-fi films, like some explanations around how these clones were actually made and the tech, rather than just showing us people coming out of tubes. It seemed bland to me in that regard.

The film takes on a 90s-type setting but somehow fuses it with modern concepts. It was a blend that just worked. There were things that are particular to recent times, like talking about blockchain being the future and all that, and using recent terminologies. So it was sort of a comfortable film to watch.

At some point in the film, however, I felt as though I wasn't getting the satisfaction I hoped to get or that the film was losing its grip on me. I wasn't getting the whole point anymore, and it seemed like the film was just going to end badly. Shortly after that, thankfully, things picked up and got interesting again. Way to go to salvage the situation.

Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that many of the terms and slangs used in this film were not exactly easy for me to understand, and therefore I felt like I was missing out on one thing or another every now and then.

There are many things about this film that would make me want to watch it again, although I am not the kind to watch films over and over again. It's not exactly the kind of film I would particularly look for, but it did its job at the end of the day, which was to entertain me. That's good enough. And so, yeah, I could tell somebody to check it out and enjoy it.
