Invasion series. I've always told you that I'm a fan of anything related to mysteries, suspense, action, horror, and thrillers; however, I must also confess that I love science fiction, especially anything related to aliens. I have seen some movies and series of this kind, such as V: The Outer Worlds in its two versions, and in this case, I have now enjoyed a series consisting of three seasons of ten episodes each called Invasion. It is a series from Apple TV that has left me with a good impression.
What I liked about this series is that it's not about the traditional alien invasion where they arrive and start destroying everything; on the contrary, there's an atmosphere of uncertainty about not knowing what's going on and how each of the characters should act. We don't see the invaders either, who are revealed little by little; and this is another point I liked, they're not the typical Martians or little green men; they're a strange species, the first time I've seen anything like it, and that, from my point of view, gave a different touch to the whole plot and to what we're used to seeing.
The creation of this story was under the lens of Simon Kinberg, a figure well known for his participation in major works such as X-Men and Deadpool, among others. Interestingly, the story is full of drama and unsettling uncertainty, with a plot that is approached from the perspective of several characters who seek to understand the events and, therefore, find answers to the situation. The characters do not know each other; however, little by little, the clues come together until they converge into a single story; the intention is to save the human race.

On the one hand, we see Mitsuki Yamato, the communications expert for Japan's space program, who appears to have a relationship with astronaut Hinata, who is going on a new space mission and is supposedly the first to make contact with the aliens. Mitsuki will be the starting point or the key to gradually understanding what is happening, what the invaders want, and how to respond to their actions. I confess that I was enchanted by her; her performance is extremely special. There is a lot of drama here.
Elsewhere, we have the Malik family, who are struggling internally with a relationship on the brink of collapse; rather than fearing an invasion, their fear is personal. We move on to the military, where we find Trevante Cole, who, along with his combat team, must fight face to face against an unknown force; Trevante is left completely alone and embarks on a mission of discovery. In the United Kingdom, we find Caspar, a boy who apparently has neural connections with the invaders. There are other secondary characters, but each of them has a different theme that gives meaning to the story; even though they don't know each other yet, nothing happens in isolation.
I absolutely love this series, not only for the plot, but also for everything it offers us visually. When we start to see the invaders, we realize that they are anything but ordinary. They have strange shapes and must change their appearance in order to move around; they really have a unique design, and you won't see any lethal weapons, rays, or anything like that; they generate fear through the way they kill humans. Similarly, we can sense the loneliness that reigns in each of the spaces visited by the protagonists; fear and potential chaos are present, because we are also shown the inability of the human race to unite to fight a common enemy. All of this makes us reflect, because it makes us think that the enemy is not the invaders, but ourselves.
With each chapter we enjoy, we are filled with more and more uncertainty. I say this because, although we know that the invaders are here and have killed a few people, we don't know what they want, why they have come, or what they want to do with the human race. All of this is revealed as the story progresses and we piece together all the clues we find. The desire of everyone involved is to find a way to defeat an extremely difficult enemy, but first, the human race must find a way to unite.
The final episode of the series could be taken as an ending in itself; however, it leaves the door open for a fourth season, which I would love to see. I haven't told you what happens at the end because you have to watch the series, but I will say that it's quite a spectacle. I particularly liked it because of its solid storyline and a plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat. There are three seasons of ten episodes, and I watched them all in three days. Lo que me gustó de esta serie, es que no se trata de la tradicional invasión extraterrestre donde llegan y empiezan a destruir todo; al contrario, se siente una atmósfera de incertidumbre de no saber lo que está pasando y la forma como deben actuar cada uno de los personajes. Tampoco vemos a los invasores, los cuales se van mostrando poco a poco; y este es otro punto que me gustó, no se trata de los típicos marcianos o hombrecitos verdes; son una especie rara, primera vez que veo algo así y eso; desde mi punto de vista, le dió un toque diferente a toda la trama y a lo que estamos acostumbrados a ver.
La creación de esta historia estuvo bajo el lente de Simon Kinberg; un personaje muy conocido por su participación en grandes obras tales como X Men, Deadpool entre otras. Lo interesante, es que la historia está llena de mucho drama e incertidumbre inquietante; una trama que es tratada desde la visión de varios personajes que buscan comprender el hecho y por ende, respuestas a la situación. Los personajes no se conocen; sin embargo, poco a poco se van engranando las pistas hasta llegar a converger en una sola historia; la intención es la de salvar a la raza humana.

Por un lado; vemos a la experta en comunicaciones del programa espacial de Japón Mitsuki Yamato, quien al parecer podría tener una relación con la astronauta Hinata, la cual va a una nueva misión espacial y es quien supuestamente tiene el primer contacto con los alienígenas. Mitsuki será el punto de partida o la clave para poco a poco ir entendiendo que pasa, que quieren los invasores y como actuar ante sus acciones. Les confieso que quedé encantado con ella, su actuación es sumamente especial; aquí hay mucho drama.
En otras latitudes tenemos a la familia Malik, quien tiene una lucha interna por una relación que está al borde del colapso; más que temer a una invasión, el temor es personal. Nos vamos a la parte militar donde tenemos a Trevante Cole, quien con su equipo de combate deben luchar frente a frente contra una fuerza desconocida; Trevante queda totalmente solitario y se embarca en una misión de descubrimiento. En el reino unido encontramos a Caspar, un niño que aparentemente tiene contactos neuronales con los invasores. Existen otros personajes secundarios, pero cada uno de ellos con una temática diferente que le da sentido a la historia; aunque no se conozcan aún, nada sucede aisladamente.
Definitivamente me encanta esta serie; no solo por la trama, sino por todo lo que nos aporta de forma visual. Cuando empezamos a ver a los invasores, nos damos cuenta que no son nada común. Tienen formas extrañas y para moverse deben cambiar su aspecto; realmente un diseño único y no verás en ellos armas letales, rayos ni nada de eso; el miedo lo generan por la manera en que acaban con los humanos. De igual forma; podemos notar la soledad que reina en cada uno de los espacios que visitan los protagonistas; el miedo y el posible caos está presente, porque también nos muestran la incapacidad que tiene la raza humana de unirse para luchar contra un enemigo en común. Todo esto nos llama a la reflexión; porque nos hace pensar que el enemigo no son los invasores, sino nosotros mismos.
En cada capítulo que disfrutamos nos llenamos de más y más incertidumbre; digo esto, porque aunque sabemos que los invasores están aquí y han asesinado a unos cuantos; no sabemos que quieren, por qué que han llegado y que desean hacer con la raza humana. Todo esto lo vamos develando a medida que avanza la historia y engranamos todas las pistas que se van encontrando; el deseo de todos los involucrados es encontrar la manera de ganar ante un enemigo sumamente difícil; pero primero, la raza humana debe encontrar la manera de unirse entre ellos.
El capítulo final de la serie podría tomarse como un final en sí; sin embargo, se deja la puerta abierta para una cuarta temporada, que por cierto me encantaría ver. No te he dicho que pasa al final porque debes ver la serie; pero si te digo que es todo un espectáculo. Particularmente me ha gustado mucho por lo sólida que es su historia y por una trama que no te da chance para pararte de la silla.
