I hope you are very well, I am well, thank God, taking advantage of these mini days off for Easter, so that first of all I can catch up on my blog here at Hive, with everything I have prepared, and on the other hand, finish what is pending in internships and continue working on my thesis.

But back to the content of my blog, while I was busy, in my free time, I started watching this series that had been highly recommended to me, and you know my tastes for crime series, mafia, suspense, mystery, action and history, and certainly this series has a little of everything.

Although it is a series from 2013, I had already heard some comments of how good it is, the plot even some content creators alluding to it of how deep the messages it has, especially for its characters, and of course, the typical post or videos of philosophical reels with messages from the series, but well, that means how much impact a series can have on society for that point. So I decided to just watch the first season, and boy did I love it!

And eyes, not as fast as I expected, because although the season has 6 episodes, I feel that they are 1h where many things happen, that there is much to see, analyze and interpret and that was just what happened to me in each chapter, with only one episode I had every day, plus the little time I have now, that 1h a day for me was enough, but there were many things I had to retain from the series and they were fantastic.

Without further lengthening, as in all my reviews I will leave you a summary of this first season, as my final comments as well, where I will give positive and negative aspects according to my opinion according to the tape and my rating for it, so welcome!

Our series focuses on England, Post World War I, Tommy Shelby the second of 4 brothers, Arthur, John and Fin Shelby, who make up the gang of mafia criminals known as the Peaky Blinders, who in the absence of law and police order, they are the ones who are responsible for order and justice in their neighborhood, under the yoke of fear and intimidation, the Peaky Blinders are the band that rules in their territory, entering bars or places without paying, and having people always at your service in exchange for protection. Although Arthur is the eldest of the 4, it is Tommy who leads his family, he is the one who makes the decisions for everyone in the team, the mind of the group and is the one to whom everyone ultimately submits their decisions, he maintains an attitude always cool to others and is not easily impressed.

The Peaky Blinders have a family business, which are the bookmakers, a business quite controlled by the mafias, of which they want to belong legally and be of the big leagues, their obstacles for the moment have been families by sanguine rivals like the Lee and the wealthy leader of the bets Billy Kimber, However, everything gets complicated when they learn that Peaky Blinders territory has begun a wave of arrests and massive sabotage in key sites of the gang, and everything is due to the arrival of an inspector sent by the government, with the mission to recover an arsenal of stolen weapons, which if it fell into the wrong hands, could be sold to rival governments or parties opposed to the government, such as the communist party.

I'll start by highlighting something I was talking to one of my roomies in my apt when I was watching this series, when I watch a tape, be it a movie or a series, I focus a lot on the details and this conversation came out because he told me "hey you're missing a lot by not watching it in its original language" and I said "no way, this series has a lot to watch and to focus on for me to be aware of if Cillian Murphy said something in English and it sounded good" what do I mean by this? That at least for me, eye, is focused on environmental details, technical, dialogues (and I speak more Spanish, therefore it makes me more comfortable) costumes, action, history, winks, in short a lot of things that can happen in minutes or in succession to understand something from start to finish, and this is something that Peaky Blinders has and I think it is a point for and against depending on the audience.

I personally enjoy watching it in Spanish and watching it in English I would pay attention to the subtitles and pay little attention to other details that matter more to me, but that's up to each one of us. Now, each chapter many but many things happen, that we are clarifying around each character, the introduction of what seems to be and at the same time is not, the lifestyle of each of the characters, the conflicts that exist, the way to develop in the environment, we are practically in post-war era, where the law is loyalty to the king, but there is not there and when the law supposedly comes, there is more convenience to a national interest, than the safety of the common and vulnerable or humble people, something that the supposed bad guys if they pay attention but ask for total obedience in return.

And we see this reflected and evolving in each episode, which sincerely each one is worthy of analysis, but, it really is better in an audiovisual material, than writing. But, having many things in a supposedly short seasons, can have something negative, and is that for people who like a faster sequence with start to finish, it can end up boring or be overwhelming, taking into account that 6 chapters per season is not much, but 1h where much happens, if it is.

As for the characters, what can I say? In this first installment I would say that all, or most, are focused on the scenario where a post-war political crisis, that the attempts of a mediocre and monarchical government tries to preserve a law that only exists for the upper classes and the middle and lower classes, sub exist thanks to the own unpredictability of crime, eye, many of them being war heroes, but being rewarded with nothing at all. I would say that this would be the macro of the environment that we are placed, and each character shows the consequences of this, the Shelby brothers are a clear consequence when the monarchical policy of your country only uses you as cannon fodder and makes a separation even of ethnicities and social classes.

On the other hand, those who have a high insight, can take over the sensitivity of the people and their need to establish an improvised order, these are the mafias like the Peaky Blinders, the bookies, among other groups. And that even the bad attempt of the government to bring order, only benefit more to these groups, when they try under their own corruption only to seek an objective of interest so they have to resort to mistreatment and police abuse of people who once went to war and now are treated as criminals. This is undoubtedly one of the best series plots I've seen, and that still extends for 5 more seasons, but for now, in this one I give it a healthy 10/10.

Pero volviendo al tema del contenido en mi blog, mientras estaba ocupado, en mis tiempos o ratos libres, me puse a ver está serie que me habían recomendado muchísimo, y ya saben mis gustos por las series de crímenes, mafias, suspenso, misterio, acción e historia, y sin duda está serie tiene un poco de cada cosa.

Aunque es una serie del 2013, ya había escuchado algunos comentarios de lo buena que es, la trama incluso algunos creadores de contenido haciendo alusión a ella de lo profundo de los mensajes que tiene, sobre todo por sus personajes, y por supuesto, los típicos post o videos de reels filosóficos con mensajes de la serie, pero bueno, eso significa que tanto impacto puede tener una serie en la sociedad para ese punto. Así que decidí verme nada más la primera temporada, ¡y vaya que me encantó!

Y ojos, no tan rápido como lo esperaba, porque aunque la temporada cuenta con 6 episodios, siento que son 1h donde pasan muchas cosas, que hay mucho porque ver, analizar e interpretar y eso fue justamente lo que me sucedía en cada capítulo, con un solo episodio tenía todos los días, además del poco tiempo que dispongo ahora, que 1h al día para mí era suficiente, pero habían muchas cosas que debía retener de la serie y eran fantásticas.

Sin más que alargarme, como en todas mis reseñas les dejaré un resumen de esta primera temporada, como mis comentarios finales además, donde daré aspectos positivos y negativos según mi opinión de acuerdo a la cinta y mi calificación para ella, así que ¡bienvenido!

Nuestra serie se centra Inglaterra, Post 1era Guerra Mundial, Tommy Shelby el segundo de 4 hermanos, Arthur, John y Fin Shelby, quienes conforman la banda de delincuentes mafiosos conocida como los Peaky Blinders, quienes a falta de la ley y orden policial, son ellos quienes se encargan de que haya orden y justicia en su barrio, bajo el yugo del miedo y la intimidación, los Peaky Blinders son la Banda que manda en su territorio, entrando a los bares o sitios sin pagar, y teniendo a la gente siempre a su servicio a cambio de protección. Aunque Arthur es el mayor de los 4, es Tommy quien lidera su familia, es el que toma las decisiones por todos en el equipo, la mente del grupo y es el que todos al final someten sus decisiones, mantiene una actitud siempre fría ante los demás y no se deja impresionar fácilmente.

Los Peaky Blinders tienen un negocio familiar, que son los corredores de apuestas, un negocio bastante controlados por las mafias, de los cuales ellos quieren pertenecer de forma legal y ser de las grandes ligas, sus obstáculos por el momento han sido familias por sanguíneas rivales como los Lee y el adinerado líder de las apuestas Billy Kimber, sin embargo todo se complica al enterarse que al territorio de los Peaky Blinders ha empezado una oleada de arrestos y saboteos masivos en sitios claves de la banda, y todo es debido a la llegada de un inspector enviado por el gobierno, con la misión de recuperar un arsenal de armas robadas, que si cayera en manos equivocadas, podrían ser vendidas a gobiernos rivales o partidos opositores al gobierno, como el partido comunista.

Comenzaré resaltando algo que estaba hablando con uno de mis roomies de mi apto cuando estaba viendo está serie, cuando yo veo un cinta, sea película o serie, me centro mucho en los detalles y ojo, está conversación salió porque me dijo “ey te estás perdiendo mucho por no verla en su idioma original” y yo el dije “qué va, está serie tiene mucho que ver y en que centrarse para yo estar pendiente de que si Cillian Murphy dijo algo en ingles y sonó bien” que quiero decir con esto? Que al menos para mí, ojo, está centrado en los detalles ambientales, técnicos, diálogos (y hablo más español, por ende se me hace más cómodo) vestuario, acción, historia, guiños, en fin un montón de cosas que pueden ocurrir en minutos o en sucesión para entender algo de inicio a fin, y esto es algo que Peaky Blinders tiene y creo que es un punto a favor y en contra dependiendo del público.

Ojo el idioma ya dependerá de cada quien, a mí en lo personal verlo en español igual me la disfruto y verla me inglés estaría pendiente de los subtítulos y poca atención a otros detalles que para mí importan más, pero cada quien. Ahora bien, cada capítulo pasan muchas pero muchísimas cosas, que se nos van aclarando entorno a cada personaje, la introducción de lo que parece ser y a la vez no es, el estilo de vida que lleva cada uno de los personajes, los conflictos que hay, la manera desenvolverse en el ambiente, prácticamente estamos en época post guerra, donde la ley es la lealtad al rey, pero no hay allí y cuando la ley supuestamente llega, hay más conveniencia hacia un interés nacional, que la seguridad de las personas comunes y vulnerables o humildes, cosa que los supuestos malos si prestan atención pero piden cambio su total obediencia.

Y esto lo vemos reflejado y evolucionando en cada episodio, que sinceramente cada uno es digno de análisis, pero, de verdad es mejor en un material audiovisual, que escribiendo. Pero, tener muchas cosas en una temporadas supuestamente cortas, puede tener algo negativo, y es que para personas que les guste más una secuencia más rápida con inicio a fin, pues, les puede terminar aburriendo o ser abrumadora, tomando en cuenta 6 capítulos por temporada no es mucho, pero 1h dónde pasa mucho, si lo es.

En cuanto a los personajes, ¿qué les puedo decir ? En esta primera entrega diría que todos, o la mayoría, están centrados en el panorama donde una crisis política post guerra, que los intentos de un gobierno mediocre y monárquico trata de preservar una ley que solo existe para las clases altas y las clases medias y bajas, sub existen gracias a la propia imprevisión del crimen, ojo, muchos de ellos siendo héroes de guerra, pero siendo recompensados sin nada en lo absoluto. Esto diría yo que sería lo macro del ambiente que nos colocan, y cada personaje demuestra las consecuencias de esto, los hermanos Shelby son una clara consecuencia cuando la política monárquica de tu país solo te utiliza como carne de cañón y hace una separación incluso de etnias y clases sociales.

Por otro lado, quienes tengan una alta perspicacia, pueden adueñarse de la sensibilidad de la gente y de su necesidad para establecer un orden improvisado, estás son las mafias como los Peaky Blinders, los corredores de apuestas, entre otros grupos. Y que incluso, el mal intento del gobierno de poner orden, solo beneficio más a estos grupos, cuando intentan bajo su propia corrupción solo buscar un objetivo de interés así tengan que recurrir al maltrato y abuso policial de personas que tiempo atrás, fueron a la guerra y ahora son tratados como criminales. Esto sin duda es de las mejores tramas de serie que he visto, y que aún se extiende por 5 temporadas más, pero que por ahora, en esta le doy un sano 10/10.
