The 30th film in the MCU is in cinemas this weekend. It is a big sequel to one of the best MCU movies of all time. I'm really excited to talk about this one in particular because it might be one of the best comic movies. Let's get to it.

Today on the blog, I want to talk to you guys about the brand new superhero movie in the MCU called Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is co-written and directed by Ryan Coogler. He also wrote and directed the original Black Panther in 2018.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a sequel to that movie as well the people of Wakanda fight to protect their home from interviewing world powers. They mourn the death of King T'Challa. This brand new Black Panther sequel was in my top 20 most anticipated films of the year. Like so many other people because everyone is super excited to check this movie out. It was my highest-ranked Marvel movie of the year because the original black panther film is probably one of my favorites. If not my favorite of the MCU and I just really loved his dedication to that movie and how he just made his own superhero movie that is still connected to the MCU. You can watch it without watching any of the other films and it is just such a well-written well-made movie. I think all the same things could be said about this one as well.

Positive Aspects of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Let's just dive right into the positives of the movie. I gotta start with Chadwick Boseman as this is a movie that is dedicated to Chadwick Boseman as he passed away last year. It was something that I think nobody knew of what he was dealing with and I think it all proves that Chadwick Boseman is King T'challa and no one could replace him. The team decided to not recast Chao Bozeman and to play his death in real life in the movie. They did it in such a beautiful and heartwarming way all the emotional weight and everything that has to do with his death is actually really powerful.

One of the best aspects of this film has got to be the direction here as Ryan Coogler has proven once again that he is probably the best Marvel director at this point. The thing that makes this movie stand out more than some of the other Marvel films is the fact that you feel like he has more control of the story. It just feels like a more narratively pleasing film where it's not trying to just have references to other Marvel characters or things that we know of. I felt like Ryan Coogler wasn't afraid to make some really big decisions on certain characters and there were a few deaths and a few character decisions that were actually really shocking and actually added so much to this movie.

One of the best aspects about this film has got to be the original song as it is top tier. As you'd expect from Ludwig Goransson, who was able to compose the original Black Panther song and won the best score at the Academy Awards.

Action and CGI

One of the biggest upgrades from the original Black Panther film has got to be the visual effects. The visual effects in this movie are actually really damn good here. Probably some of the best I've seen of them in a really long time. This film feels like it was more polished and they had more time to work on it. They had a slightly bigger budget. It shows because the CGI is pretty damn perfect in this movie. There are a few scenes where it does look like characters are standing on a green screen or some of the water looks a little bit fake at times but overall it looked extremely convincing.

I found that the action sequences also received a big upgrade as this movie does feel bigger and grander. The action itself just is more creatively choreographed. It looks better it shot better and it had so much tension, especially one scene that was on the beach that happens later in the movie very well done. I found the costume design, production, and editing to be pretty solid in this movie. There's just so much detail to every single costume the war of Wakanda just feels so real and vibrant.
Performance

The final positive, I have with this movie has got to be the acting and performances. As everybody in this movie is fantastic as this Black Panther cast is one of the best out of all the Marvel films and everyone is giving phenomenal performances. The biggest stamp to me has got to be Angela set as the queen. She is given a stronger and bigger role in this film. She is amazing. I mean she is a top-tier actress as it is but she was given so much room to shine in this movie and she was phenomenal one of the best additions to this film has got to be Nuke. He played Neymar and he was really great in this movie. I loved his passion for the role.

Negative Aspects of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Unfortunately, this film does have a few negatives. The first one has gotta be the middle of the movie which definitely drags the pacing down quite a bit as it is a montage scene of characters trying to build things and trying to get ready for a big battle. It's very typical of the superhero genre but it is trying to develop a lot of the characters which I'm totally cool with but you do feel that the movie drags down quite a bit. As this movie is extremely fast-paced and I was never bored while watching it except for this point of the film.

Conclusion

One of the other neat picks, I had has got to be the original songs that are in this film that don't happen quite often but the original songs are not very good. I mean I love the Rihanna song that plays at the end of the movie. But all the other original songs are not all that great, especially when compared to the Black Panther album that was done by Kendrick Lamar for the first movie that was so damn good I love that album.

Overall, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a great addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and a great sequel to that amazing Black Panther film from 2018. It gives phenomenal performances and great action sequences all the IMAX scenes were great the score is phenomenal. I think this movie has a ton of re-watch value. I truly love the female lead superhero film that this movie is and it was something I didn't expect. I truly loved it I hope we get more. I am giving Black Panther: Wakanda Forever an 8 out of 10.
