K-Pop Demon Hunters (Movie Review)
Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to my blog. It's a pleasure to have you in this space. Once again, welcome š¤
For some days now my daughter has been singing some songs, and I don't really understand what she's been singing or where she heard them from, and when I asked her, she told me my younger sister transferred a movie to her tablet, so the song is from the movie.
So I was watching this movie for the Korean Hive village prompt yesterday when my daughter overheard one of the songs and started singing along. I was surprised and asked how she knew the song, and then she told me she has it on her tablet. Apparently the songs she has been singing are from this movie.
Before I started watching this movie, I really didn't know what I was expecting from it, but somehow within me I felt the movie might be boring. Maybe I made that conclusion because of its name.
Movie Summary
K-pop demon Hunters is an animated musical movie that is set around three young ladies who are K-pop artists whose stage name is Huntrix. The Huntrix was globally loved and adored. While to the whole world they are music artists, the girl-power music band, however, behind the scenes, they fight demons with their song, voice, and blade. The girl power group is being led by Rumi, Mira, and Zoey; the trio uses their music to protect a Golden Honmoon that's a barrier between the earth and the demon world. However, their lives took a different turn when a boy band group called the Saja Boys emerged who became their rival.
What the Huntrix didn't know was that the Saja Boys, with Jinu as their leader, were actually demons whose main mission was to use a strategy as a k-pop boy band to get the attention of their fans and drain their energy to empower their king, Gwi-Ma. The Huntrix later finds out who the Saja Boys were and battles with the demons, while Rumi on the other side finds herself drawn to Jinu.
My Option
The movie is an interesting and relatable one that explores different themes like identity, fame, loyalty, and self-acceptance. The way Rumi struggled to accept her demonic side reflects the pressure a lot of people go through to conform to the perfection in the entertainment industry and life generally. The movie also highlights the power of collective energy and teamwork; as the Huntrix joined forces to work together, they were able to overcome their challenges, fight the demons, and seal the Honmoon.
Those fight scenes where they choreographed different dance moves and combat seamlessly are just so beautiful and visually appealing; the songs are catchy, emotional, and interesting.
Rating and Recommendation
I will rate it a 9/10. It's an interesting watch for all of K-pop, fantasy, and animation fans.
