Until Dawn (2025): Horror, Thrill, and Time Loops Unleashed

Hello friends! I am Joy. I recently saw a Hollywood horror movie called "Until Dawn". Where can I get this movie? It is coming to theaters, it is running in various theaters, you can go and check it out by going to the hall.

So how was the movie? Can you watch it or not, it is a horror movie. What does the horror feel give? Can it scare you? I will talk about all this in this review. Before that, let me tell you the basic story. This story is about a game called "Until Dawn", the story is adapted from that game.

Now look, I am not a big gaming person. I mean, I am not someone who loves playing games or has an interest in games. I have not even heard the name of this game. I came to know the name of the game for the first time while researching this movie. So I cannot say how much of the story was taken from the game, what changes were made to the story in the movie, what was added, what was removed — I cannot say these things. Because I didn't know about the game, I didn't hear about it. Those who know about the game, maybe they can tell me these things well.

Now the basic story is, there is a place. Some friends are going to a place. While looking for one person, they find that the friend they went to look for is missing. But besides that, many people go there and go missing. And after they go there, they realize that they are stuck in a time loop. They are dying and then coming back to life. But how long is this? How long will this game last? Can they get out of this game or not — this movie is going to be about all of this.

A very short movie, a very short running length — the running length of this movie is about one hour and 40 minutes.

Now, how is this movie?

Look, there are many audiences who say, "No, horror movies mean jump scares to them. If I watch a movie alone at night, it's a good horror movie for me. I don't understand all that psychological stuff. My main thing is, I'm watching a horror movie, can it scare me?"

The first thing I'll address is — this movie might scare you. For a while. I'll explain why I say "for a while" later. But you'll be scared of jump scares for a while.

There are a lot of things in this movie — like slashers, there's talk about time loops, there's a little bit of science fiction. All of these horror elements are in a balanced way and it's nice to watch.

If you watch a movie alone at night, you're bound to get scared. Those who want to watch the movie just to be scared can watch the movie. Because it has horror, thrill, edge of the seat moments, survival stuff, then time loop stuff, slasher — all these things you will find in the movie.

Now look, I am not a big fan of slasher movies. But the amount of slasher that has been kept here is good. The amount of horror that has been kept is good.

The location is very important in this kind of movie. And the way it has been shot here, the place where it has been shot — it gives that creepy feel, it gives that spooky feel, it is nice to watch. And those things, the look and feel really support the movie.

Along with that, the lighting of this movie is good, the BGM is good.

The way the lighting is used to scare! Because the whole thing is shot at night. Why at night? What does "Until Dawn" mean? Dawn means the time before dawn, meaning the time just before the sun rises is called Dawn. "Until Dawn" means until dawn.

This is the night that is starting and this game is going on until dawn.

The lighting work here is very good, the BGM work is very good. The BGM was supporting the jump scares, helping to get scared.

The lighting and BGM work there are good. The location is good. The way it was shot is good. The camera angles are kept quite well. And you will get scared there. It can give that horror feel. All the things come together and can give that horror feel.

The subject is quite good.

The time loop angle that has been inserted will give you a certain engagement. It will give you interest — that "What will happen next? What will happen?" — that thing will run continuously in your head.

And the subject that they are talking about is very good, but it addresses good things — like fear, like how cruel a person can be or how low someone can stoop for their own gain — there is a conversation about these things.

That thing is not underlined, you will understand. It is well said, but not underlined — that is good.

And the way the story progresses, that is also good. It is quite nice to watch.

Along with that, the performances here:

The performances are very good. I mean, what do you mean by good performances — not that there are out of the world performances or Oscar level performances, you cannot expect that in this movie.

But the performance that was required in the movie, those who were in the casting, tried to perform in that way. They did well. Seeing them, you will repeatedly feel that yes brother, so that they can get out, so that they can survive and get out.

Seeing them, you will feel a sense of wonder at a time.

So the performance that was able to bring that feeling there is quite good.

So this movie, in terms of horror, the combination of different subjects, or the messaging that I am talking about, treatment wise, BGM, lighting — if I talk about everything, this movie is quite good in all aspects.

These were the positive aspects.

Now if I move on to the negative aspects —

As I said, the horror in this movie works a lot, but the makers wanted to give so much of this horror towards the end, because of which the fear disappears later.

You will not get the fear anymore towards the end.

And another big loophole in this movie is — the thing that it is talking about, the time loop — it cannot give us a proper answer about it in the end.

Maybe it is for part two. Because they have kept space for part two. So maybe they will give the answer properly in Part Two.

But after watching the whole thing, I wanted a little more answer or a little more proper ending to the ending, meaning they ended it a little in a hurry — a little more proper ending, that's what I wanted.

You won't get the answer to everything until the end in a movie.

And the emotion is lacking in this movie.

It seems that the makers wanted to work on the emotion a lot, but that's not what they wanted.

Yes, the two sisters had an emotional place, that place could have been prepared a little better. But they didn't give much of a hand to the emotion crisply.

They didn't want the emotion to come out very well in front of people.

They wanted to show the subject: Here I will give a feeling of fear, a feeling of survival, give the messaging and leave. They didn't want to show emotion very much there.

So a 1 hour 38-40 minute movie — the emotion won't work for you.

These were the positives, the negatives.

Those who want to watch scary movies, just to be scared, to get the horror feel — can check out this movie. You will like it a lot.

And there is violence in the movie.

As I said, a part of a slasher movie has also been inserted here. So there is violence.

Those who are weak-minded and those who are children — they should stay away from this movie.
