[Movie] Big Hero 6

I have always found animated movies interesting expecially when they combine technology and a story that actually has emotional weight, and Big Hero 6 does that with a young boy who uses his intelligence to turn a group of inventions into something much bigger.

Hiro Hamada, is a young boy who is extremely intelligent but spends most of his time using his intelligence for illegal robot fights. His older brother, Tadashi, knows that Hiro is wasting his potential, so he takes him to the university where he and his friends work on different inventions. This is where Hiro meets Baymax, a healthcare robot created by Tadashi.

Tadashi was not just his older brother; he was also someone who genuinely wanted Hiro to become better. When Hiro eventually decides to apply to the university, he creates a group of tiny robots called Microbots that can move and connect together according to his thoughts. The invention is impressive, and it immediately caught my attention in the movie.

Things change when a fire breaks out at the university and Tadashi goes back inside to save his professor. Hiro loses his brother, and this completely changes the direction of the movie. His grief also brings him closer to Baymax, who was designed to help people with their health and emotional wellbeing. I liked this part because Baymax does not suddenly become a typical action hero. He remains a healthcare robot, and that makes some of his reactions even funnier.

Hiro eventually discovers that one of his Microbots survived the fire and is still trying to reach a destination. When he and Baymax follow it, they discover that someone has secretly recreated his invention. Hiro begins to suspect that Tadashi's death was not an accident, and this is where the movie becomes more serious.

Hiro then works with Tadashi's friends, Go Go, Wasabi, Honey Lemon and Fred, to turn their different inventions into equipment they can use. Watching them develop their abilities was one of the things I enjoyed most about the movie because they do not immediately become a perfect superhero team. They are basically intelligent university students experimenting with technology and trying to figure out what they can do.

The action becomes more interesting when they finally confront the masked man controlling the Microbots. Baymax gets upgraded into a more powerful version of himself, and the group begins using their inventions to fight back. At the same time, Hiro becomes increasingly obsessed with finding the person responsible for Tadashi's death. This part of the story shows how easily grief can turn into anger, especially when someone believes they finally have a person to blame.

One scene I particularly liked was when Hiro discovers the truth about the masked villain. The revelation changes the way he sees everything that happened and also forces him to confront what he is becoming. Baymax's role in that moment is important because he constantly reminds Hiro of the kind of person Tadashi wanted him to be.

The final part of the movie brings everything together when Hiro and Baymax enter another dimension to rescue someone trapped there. The situation becomes dangerous, and Baymax ends up making a sacrifice to save Hiro. It is a simple moment, but it works because the movie had already spent enough time building their relationship.

For once I thought Baymax was dead but the movie had there way of bringing him back in one piece.
