Hello fellow bloggers,

after blogging about Splinterlands for a couple of weeks now, I've decided to make an introduction post about who I am.

About Me

I'm Patrick, 28 years old, from Germany.

Online I go by the name Pinkman45, which comes from the Breaking Bad character Jesse Pinkman, who I thought was really cool at the time (and still do).

I'm currently studying sports science with the goal to work with professional athletes in the future, either as an athletic trainer or head coach. My own sports background is Muay Thai, which I started when I was 16 and recently got back into after a long break of "just" going to the gym and lifting weights.

Besides sports and training I love video games. I enjoy competitive multiplayer games the most and I probably have over a thousand hours in League of Legends and another 500+ in Hearthstone, even though I stopped playing both like 6 and 2 years ago. I also play a lot of CoD Warzone and Fifa with friends.

But my all time favorite games have to be MGS Snake Eater and The Last of Us.

I'm also a big TV and Movie guy, but this is a topic for a whole own blog (maybe I'll write one someday). Favorite show of all time though: The Wire (closely followed by The Sopranos and Breaking Bad)

I make a living working as a bartender on weekends and that looks something like this:

About My Blog

Like I said, it's about Splinterlands. I got into the game around August 2021, after getting interested in the crypto space in general. Didn't take me long to find GameFi and Play2Earn...

Initially Splinterlands was kind of the only game that was working at the time and didn't look like complete shit to me, even though the beginning was absolutely frustrating with card prices being super expensive. I remember barely having enough DEC from playing to rent to get to Silver 3 once, so I would get the EoS rewards, when they changed it so that you had to hold enough power when the season ends.

That was when I decided to actually invest like $200 to get 15k power and a couple of cards to play in Silver 3 regularly. And this is how it started. I got sucked in deeper and deeper, studying the economy, the markets, the meta and the strategies. Started watching Bulldog's and Dwayne's videos and flipping cards, buying cheap ones and reinvesting my profits.

About 6 month later I'm writing two posts a week. As of right now one for the Battle Challenge and one for the Social Media Challenge. The latter usually is some sort of guide. And you can check out two of them here:
5 Tips for new players, part I
5 Tips for new players, part II

I don't have any plans for this blog, yet. My goal always is to summarize concepts and general strategies to help new players or players like myself, who understand the basics but like optimizing things. Whether that's battle strategies, useful third party tools or thoughts on the market and economy.

I think that's about it. I'm looking forward to the adaption and evolution of the crypto space and the future of Splinterlands in particular.

In case you've never heard of the game and are curious to check it out
