Sometimes I come across a work of art

that sucks me in so much, it blows my mind.

The latest show to do that was Arcane from the world of League of Legends, but I just found a worthy successor.

Holy Shit!

Blue Eye Samurai is one of those special works.

The blue-eyed samurai, known as Mizu, has captured my heart, and now I want to spread that love to you too.

Mizu wields a blade better than any other samurai, traveling through Japan in search of revenge. On top of that, she hides her gender and blue eyes. In the context of feudal Japan during the Edo period, where foreigners (non-Japanese) were treated as evil, and whites were generally considered to be white devils, Mizu, being the child of a white man, is treated like a monster, which is why she hides her blue eyes behind dark glasses.

This is not just another anime on Netflix. Blue Eye Samurai is more than just standard animation. Although it is Produced by Netflix, and written by Americans and animated in French studio Blue Spirit, the crew which made this masterpiece is from all over the world.

Its visual presentation is stunning, combining modernity with tradition, using 2D and 3D techniques with elements of Japanese painting. The landscapes and expressive characters deserve recognition even without movement. The direction and choreography of the fight scenes, especially in the fifth episode, are reminiscent of animated Kill Bill.

Mizu, though not without effort and blood, can defeat an army of enemies, making her struggles always fascinating to watch. Blue Eye Samurai is not just a visual feast; it is also full of humor, dynamism, and moments that keep you on the edge of your seat.

The story does not just focus on fighting for the viewer's attention; it can also surprise with a narrative knockout at the most unexpected moment. Despite the apparent banality of the concept of a warrior's story on a path of revenge, Blue Eye Samurai offers something much deeper.

The characters that Mizu meets add richness to the narrative. Saki, the blacksmith, a blind man who takes her under his wing, or other characters with disabilities, are written with delicacy and clear motivations. And those characters live their lives and constantly develope theough 8 episodes. Taigen - the cocky samurai who seems to be an asshole gathers my respect even if he's not so great of a man. Akemi - young and naive princess learns through series that being born into aristocracy isnt bread and butter and everybody have to fight for their freedom and it is always done at a cost. Bad Guys are not just bad. They have their own stories, problems and traumas. Every character wins my sympathy, even if sometimes it takes a moment to discover them. Blue Eye Samurai is a true masterpiece of storytelling that combines action, emotion, and unforgettable characters.

10/10
Just watch it.

Don't forget the massive All-Star lineup of actors!

And the fact that they just got signed for season 2?

Absolutely I am a big fan. Of course the naked Mizu and boobies makes this not just great. But EPIC!

Ahh, Yass! Can't wait for season 2!

I'm expecting this to make it four seasons. And from there I have a feeling there's going to be some spin-offs.

Yup would be awesome, One bad guy's down already, but Fowler lives, so at least 3 seasons more. But prequels are also possible, right? :)
