Mortal Kombat (2021)

At the heart of the movie is the rivalry between Scorpion and Sub Zero. The movie would have been better received by the audience if the screen time of these two characters had been more, but it has also been quite good as it has teased everyone for the next one. Those who know the storyline of the game a little better understand what actually happened and what could happen next.

At the beginning of the movie, Lin Kuei kills Bi-Han of the Klan clan, Hanzo Hasashi of the Shirai Ryu clan, and the members of his clan who are there. Hanzo later dies at the hands of Bi-Han and he moves to Netherrealm / Hell. Where he is held captive and over time learns to control the forces there and later Hanzo is freed when Cole can unlock his arcana. After which we have Scorpion Vs Sub Zero at the end of the movie.

I get the iconic fight where Bi-Han / Sub Zero dies but Shang Tsung goes back to Outworld with the bodies of his champions. If we match the story of the game, we know that Sub Zero was actually innocent. Innocent, he did not kill Hanzo's family. Hanzo's family was actually killed by Quan Chi of Netherrealm. Quan Chi kills Hanzo's family and his clan at Bi-Han's disguise, using whatever force he can to disguise himself, so that war can break out again between the two clans. Bi-Han will be back again but not as Sub Zero. He will come as Noob Saibot to take revenge on Scorpion.

Meanwhile, Bi-Han's brother Kuai Liang will be the next Sub Zero to take revenge on Scorpion for his brother's death in the beginning. The movie has given them less screen time to make this story more beautiful and full of surprises. Bi-Han / Sub Zero actor Joe Taslim has signed contracts for 4 more ‘Mortal Kombat’ movies, meaning Mortal Kombat 5 has been greenlit.

Among the Earthrealm champions on the other hand we see Kung Lao die. His soul takes Shang Tsung. Presumably, after the death of Shang Tsung, this Kung Lao will return, but only as Evil. His soul will be corrupted. I didn't find any problems with the Earthrealm champions, but I must say something about the absence of Johnny Cage and the Cole Young character.

My only problem with this movie is Cole Kei. The most unnecessary character I've ever seen. Mortal Kombat Universe has about 100 characters. I think it would have been very easy to make any one of them a protagonist. Worse, when his arcana was literally plot armor and lost to Goro with OK. A character who has not received any training, his fighting career is not good and it is not right to lose the most difficult character in the history of this game in this way. Personally, I made Sonya Blade a protagonist in this movie undefined I think it would have been better.

I have been angry ever since I knew Johnny Cage will not be in the movie. How did they do this movie without one of the most important characters in the franchise ?! After watching the movie, when I realized their plan, it didn't feel bad anymore. Moreover, the movie ends with a direct hint of Johnny Cage. It is very much guaranteed that I will get him in the rest from the next one. At the end of the movie, Raiden sends the rest of the Earthrealm to collect the remaining champions. Apart from Johnny Cage, characters like Kuai Liang / Sub Zero, Kitana, Erron Black may also be brought.

Another problem with the movie that I don't like is that most people like it, that the Mortal Kombat movie doesn't have a Mortal Kombat tournament. Many of Mortal Kombat's 11 games do not have tournaments. Despite being a game, its story is incredibly large, complex and beautiful. The name of the story is the name of the tournament, but that's not the end of the tournament.
You will see how deep this story goes over time. Shang Tsung has not lost yet undefined Then there are villains like Shao Kahn, Quan Chi, Kotal Kahn, Shinnok.
