Yeah, it's that time of the year... ¡One More Time!

Let's see...

¿Why make real resolutions when you will abandon them anyway?

  • I will pick fewer internet fights.
  • I will start smoking to lose weight.
  • I will get a tattoo I will later regret.
  • I will start communicating exclusively in memes.
  • I will turn every weekend into a three-day weekend.
  • I will start washing my hands after I use the restroom.
  • I will borrow things more often and return them less often.
  • I will try my hand at stand-up comedy while riding the subway.
  • I will start using the gym membership I’ve been paying for all year.
  • I will share lotta inappropriate jokes at the most awkward moment possible.
  • I will start practicing my ‘I remember when…’ stories to share at family gatherings.
  • I will start trying to stop lying to you about following your New Year’s resolutions.
  • I will start paying off my credit cards every month in full with my other credit cards.
  • I will start keeping it to myself that I have trouble with authority if someone ask me.
  • I will start perfecting the art of faking surprise at the foot of my Xmas Tree every year.

Yeah! every year, at the end of each year. Most people all around the world come up with plenty of new ideas about how to improve their lives. Making New Year's resolutions you know? Manifesting out loud and publicly, more than ever, what they plan and are gonna do to forge a better, easier and more pleasant future for them.

As a sacred exercise of renewal once a year. At the end of each year. In a time when and where they are resolving to try to commit to revamp their lives. Like by giving up a bad habit or changing an unhealthy pattern of behavior or something around these lines.

As a yearly ritual of hope to try to fill themselves with what they currently lack and get rid of what they have leftovers. Freebies of which the new year will be replete of them and magically will materialize to be granted to them according their wishes. But only, if they express it loudly and publicly to the providence. That's it. New Year's resolutions!

But shortly after expressing them and after having to face the harsh reality that has accompanied them throughout all the previous years of resolutions. Suddenly they realize that they neither have leftovers nor lack anything and then they simply decide to continue as they already were. ¿Why make things more difficult? ¿Huh?

Resolutions and good wishes at the end of the year are nothing more than that. Resolutions and good wishes. Good intentions and wishful thinking. I guess, that simply by following what seems to have been a tradition and custom over the years.

All this according to the general human consensus that culturally grants us the license that these days at the end of the year are specifically the most appropriate and most effective ones to materialize what we have always desired in order to improve our future. Whatever happened before this year-end or what will happen before next year-end will remains to be seen. ¿Why would we worry about that now? ¡Keep On Truckin'!

Oh! and talking about the future. Maybe for these several festive and relaxed days at home. You probably may want to enjoy of a good movie filled with new ideas about the future. You know, as to strengthen better your ideas and New Year's resolutions.

I don't know. Maybe you will find more meaning about the future after watching the movie. Maybe not. But you will certainly never know if you don't try. It is obvious to me that most people see these end-of-year days as the days that mark the passing and demise of something old and the rebirth or birth of something new in the days yet to come. ¿But is that true? Yeah, watch the movie and let me know later.

And for this I am going to leave two links below where you can watch the movie for free online. In the first link, this will take you to the place to watch the full movie in English. And in the second link, this will take you to the place where you can see it in full, spoken in Spanish.

  1. Watch the movie in english.

  2. Watch the movie in spanish.

Yeah, it is very likely that many after watching the movie still do not understand very well what the future is about. But if that's the case, just ask yourself this question:

¿Did I know where it all was going and what the future is all about before manifesting and making public my New Year's resolutions this year one more time?

Yep, keep thinking about that for a few minutes. Even before watching the movie.

In the meantime, I will keep thinking about whether it will be possible for me or not to fulfill one, all or any of the fifteen end-of-year resolutions that I established above as goals for this coming 2024 and if it makes any sense to be able to fulfill them.

Anyway, I will also leave you the trailer of the movie next below just to see if I can encourage you to watch it fully and then you can tell me later what you thought of it and if it has any relationship with what I have written in this post. Cya later folks!
