SYNOPSIS
Shen Zaiye, the Left Chancellor of the Qi Kingdom, who meets Princess Jiang Taohua of the Northern Yuan Kingdom due to a conspiracy by his political enemies. Shen Zaiye is cunning and ruthless, while Jiang Taohua is clever and resourceful. In the turbulent political landscape between the two nations, they outsmart and manipulate each other. Forced to collaborate in the face of powerful enemies, they gradually grow closer. As they confront the choice between love and duty to their respective countries, they overcome numerous obstacles and ultimately work together to stabilize the kingdom.
The State of Beiyuan, bordering the Qi state, had long suffered from continuous warfare. With the King unwell and the Prince young, the Queen Regent, Lv, ordered Princess Jiang Taohua, titled Chengping, to travel to Qi for a marriage alliance. Her mission was to foster peace between the two nations; failure would be deemed treason. Jiang Taohua, confined in the palace for eighteen years, had never expected to leave alive.
Though her departure was for a marriage alliance, she vowed to repay the suffering she had endured. A fire broke out in the Cold Palace, and Princess Jiang Taohua and Prince Changjue were discovered missing. Guards, acting under Lv's orders, searched for them. Hidden in a broken bamboo basket, they used ashes sacks they had prepared beforehand to shield themselves from the guards' blades, allowing them to escape.
MY THOUGHTS AND RATING.
I would rate this series 9/10 because it was really good. For a while now, I just seem to stop watching Korean and Chinese drama halfway because, they all seem to have the same plot and nothing too special about them. But this show looked beyond the love and romance plots and actually gave us something more different. How people are been calculative and power of working together, I really enjoyed every bit of this show and I’d totally recommend it to anyone out there.
