Over the years, we have accumulated boxes of Autumn and Halloween accoutrements. There are the ubiquitous pumpkins and skeletons, a huge Frankenstein head that used to light up but now, after some hollowing out, will host a candle.

Then there are my owls. I don't exactly know when it happened, but the little hooters have become a spirit animal of sort for me. It must be their big eyes and questioning nature, but they make me feel understood.

Given my penchant for zombie movies, I am a little embarrassed to admit that I am just now getting into the Last of Us.

Some of you may have come to the conclusion that I lean counter culture. I work at it and this usually works well for me, saving me from any number of reality TV shows, zeitgeist type dramas, and irrational manias.

But sometimes I really should take a bite of what the muggles are consuming. Fungi zombies. So much fun; I so wish I had thought of that ... no it wasn't a mosquito escaped from a Fauci-funded lab that brought on the apocalypse, but funky pancake mix that got a little too friendly with zombie mushroom.
