Sally, the Rag doll: Cosplay from the Nightmare Before Christmas
Sally, the Rag doll. Cosplay

A verry belated Merry Christmas to you all, Hivelanders. I hope it was a wonderful experience for you and all you love.
I did try to post this cosplay before Christmas; alas HIVE was experiencing technical difficulties this day; and the photos would not render. It was a busy time for me. I was planing and packing for a trip. Then off I went for a much need vacation to Vancouver.
Now I am back and ready to give it another college try. Here is hoping everything goes technically smoothly.
You will have to forgive the Christmas slash Halloween post after the 25th; but movies are good year round; and so is the Nightmare Before Christmas, Tim Burton's animated, musical masterpiece. If you haven't seen it; you can do it; climb out from under your rock, wipe the sleep from your eyes, and give it a watch.
Sally, the Rag Doll, is the romantic and much more sensible lead to the Burton classic's main protagonist, Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King. Jack, as charming and well-meaning as he is, also has a touch of narchies(narcissim) gets it into his head that he will take over Christmas and show Santa how it is done. Sally, voiced by the incomparable Catherine O'Hara, from Home Alone and Schitt's Creek fame, must follow along behind and clean up it the mess Halloween dark magic makes with Christmas' light spirit.

Movie part done, onto the cosplay construction. I have to admit, this cosplay took a lot of work. A couple hours to paint my body and face blue-white and then add the black stitch and shade work. I do wish I had added black dots on my eyelids for Sally's eyes. I think this would have brought the look home. Maybe next year and there may indeed be a next year; since these shots were taken I have found the perfect dress to heighten this cosplay up a level.
The dress worn for this iteration was a simple purple tunic that I made rag-like with fabric remnants from my Other Mother cosplay; to the polka-dots I added multi-colored, electrical tape. The costume is not movie accurate, but it did bring the sprit home. Methinks anyways. Sally wears striped socks, which I did not have; and so I improvised with more electrical tape. I probably could have used a few more stripes. The wig was a 5 dollar, dollar store special. Given Sally has scraggly hair, it worked well, I think. I have ideas for next year that I hope will really elevate this cosplay; stay-tuned because I am not giving any hints away now.
Once again, Merry Christmas, Hivelanders, and if I don't get in her again before Thursday, Happy New Year.
