THE WAITER REVIEW (STARRING AYO MAKUN)…
THE WAITER; a movie i have been literally waiting for to get released for over six months now. A movie starring one of my favorite standup comedian in the industry, this person also happens to be one of my favorite nollywood star in the nollywood industry, known to be a talented and gifted actor, writer, movie director, producer and most importantly an entertainer in his movies. He goes by the name "AYO MAKUN", popularly known and addressed as "AY". This actor has starred in countless movies in the last couple of decades, starting his career as a standup comedian and later rose up to wider fame as an artist and as a producer. He starred in movies like "30 days in Atlanta, a trip to Jamaica, 10 days in Suncity, merry men, the wedding party, and so on. One of the genres that is mostly found in all his movies is "comedy". When you see him starring in movies, just know you are in for endless comedy, his movies are the best recommendation when one is a bit down. His acting skills, pigin english, accent and razzness are definitely going to make your day...
Let me just brief you on what THE WAITER is all about, and mind you, i won't be delving too deep into it, so that it won’t be a spoiler to other people, i will just say a little thing about the movie and move ahead to sharing my personal opinions about the movie and the actors that acted in it...
THE WAITER...
This is a movie that reveals a lot about the state of my country, it is a movie talking about the corrupt acts of the government, including their request for funds in our names, only for it to embezzled by them and their minions. "The waiter" talks about the fight of a man called "Tonye Bright" and his gangs against those in power to give back to the people what is rightfully theirs. It is a movie that focuses more on the fight against corruption. This movie portray a saying that states; "once you push a man to the wall and he has no where else to run to, he will turn back and fight back, and too with all his power and might"...
Watch how a group of supposed terrorists shutdown a hotel filled with dignitaries, government officials, powerful men and civilians, leaving just one man "Akpos" to be the savior of the day. Akpos is an ordinary man from the streets, filled with different street OTs and street slangs, who also happens to be a waiter in that same hotel. Watch how he handled the whole hostage situation while relying on his street combat skills, OTs and the support of the chief of security of the hotel, and fighting alongside them was REGINA DANIELS, who went by the name Idara in the movie...
MY THOUGHTS ON "THE WAITER"...
Honestly, i just couldn't help but jump on this review immediately i finished the movie, every scene of the movie was well scripted and acted. I was halfway done when i initially decided to start writing this post, thinking i would be able to deliver hundred percent before concluding it, i realized i needed to conclude the movie before sharing my two cents on it, that way i will be covering the whole 1 hour 44 minutes in my review. And here i am guys, i just concluded the movie, and it is nothing short of hilarious, action- packed and realistic. The realistic part comes from the fact that TONYE and his gangs were indeed fighting for a good course, they were fighting for the people, and to an extent their actions are justified, the only problem was the approach and the loss of lives of the police officers, but then it wasn't completely their fault, their Superintendent is to be blamed, he literally led them to death after ignoring all warnings from the sensible officers around him, their deaths are on his neck...
If Tonye and his gangs didn't result to such measures, the corrupt men in power would have embezzled the whole funds (300 billion dollars) under the pretext of giving them out to the people. Someone needed to question them and Tonye took up the job and delivered greatly. We could say their actions are justified to an extent...
MY HIGHLIGHTS...
Oh my goodness gracious. I won't deny the fact that i had more than one highlight in the movie, and this was because the movie had everything i wanted in it. It was hilarious, action-packed and also based on real life situations. Of all my highlights in the movie, only two stood out...
The first part was Brainjotters scene. Honestly, i didn't know he was part of the cast until i saw him halfway into the movie. My first highlight was when he was being interviewed on live tv about the ongoing hostage situation, and he was asked to share his two cents on the actions of the terrorists. As he started criticizing them, talking about how bad and unacceptable their actions were, and how wrong it was for them to result to such measures, regardless of their motive. The moment he got a credit alert of one million naira on his phone, which came in as a result of the actions of the so called terrorists he was criticizing, he took a pause to confirm the alert, and before we knew it started praising them, which warranted another question from the interviewer. She asked him "why the change of heart?" and he couldn't say anything and he jumped up and started dancing his signature dance along with his recent remix...
My second highlight in the movie was when "Akpos, Femi and Idara" were been shot at after they thought the guns the terrorists came with had no bullets in them, only for them to be proven wrong, and while they were being shot at, Akpos couldn't resist screaming "i am a chosen, i am a chosen" as he ran for his dear life. That was a funny scene...
RATING AND WHAT TO EXPECT...
This movie is a 9 out of 10 for me. I love everything about it, starting from the actors, actresses down to their roles in the movie, they all delivered hundred percent, i just wished Brainjotter and Nasboi had more than one scene in the movie, would have been more hilarious. does it worth my time ? oh yes, it does..
Expect lots of action, little drama, little romance, entertainment, and some real life situations in this 2024 produced movie...
In conclusion, if you haven't seen this movie yet, then the time to see it is now, @burlarj, @samostically i am recommending this movie to you, don't miss it, you'd definitely love it. It's available on netflix...
