I also liked that Joshua is not exactly what he seems. That contrast typically adds a little more weight to the romance. Not every movie has to revive the genre , sometimes, a solid cast and pleasant vibe is all you need for an entertaining viewing.

I agree with you—this is a typical story, right up to the part where she gets sick and he takes care of her; it's all very predictable. But I really liked it; it's well made, and I loved the two main characters.

Strong chemistry between the leads can make even the most familiar story feel enjoyable, and it sounds like they really carried the film.
