Anyone but You is a romantic comedy starring Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney that recently came out in theaters and turned out to be a surprise hit. Romantic comedies haven’t done well in theaters in years, ever since Covid I think as people don't consider them to be appeal enough to spend big money on. But this movie changed something so I decided to give it a chance, in theaters as well.

The movie follows our two romantic leads who spent one night together that ended disastrously. After realizing that they hate each they also realize that they are stuck together as her sister and his best friend are getting married. They hate each other so much that it effects the wedding. But when both of their exes show up they decide that the best way to handle the situation is to fake being together. You already know how the next part goes. The plot is hardly a surprise, but there are a few surprises that come in a different form.

One of the surprises is that this movie is not shy about the fact that its leads are attractive. There is a lot of exposed skin in this movie which is how it got itself an R rating. Plus the chemistry between the actors in pretty amazing which prevents the movie from feeling awkward.

The casting in this movie is pretty great. We already know that Glen Powell is a charisma bomb from Top Gun: Maverick and I didn't watch Euphoria but I know what Sydney Sweeney was amazing there as well as she is here. I also love Alexandra Shipp and she is great in this movie. Having Dermot Mulroney in this movie is a romantic comedy blast from the past moment which only adds to the movie. Everyone brings their A game in this movie.

Another surprise that this movie has is the soundtrack. Not a lot of movies have a central song, but this movie does and it is pretty cool and unexpected. It is both adorable and a running joke inside the movie.

I am not sure if any romantic comedy nowadays can become a classic, but if it can, this movie has a potential to be a prime candidate.

What do you think? Did you watch the movie?
