The Marvels is coming to IMAX

I feel like it is taken for granted that a big Marvel movie will be playing on IMAX screens, but it actually isn't. Dune 2 had booked all IMAX screens for two months since early November for years in advance so The Marvels were left out of this special screen market. But now that Dune 2 has been pushed back The Marvels has all the IMAX screens to itself.

It also means that Disney and Marvel have no intentions of pushing back the movie despite the ongoing actors strike. So far director Nia DaCosta has been promoting the movie by herself hoping that her three leads will join her soon. However, there is a chance since none of her leads are particularly popular with main audiences so it is actually better for them not to promote the movie. Brie Larson has been known for making more than a few comments that rub people the wrong way. Perhaps Disney and Marvel just don't see the need for her to promote her movie because of this. Although the previous Captain Marvel movie got a lot of help from people who wanted to see what the fuss is about. This movie will have no such help.

So far there is no hate on this movie, just general indifference. I think it looks pretty good, although again the CGI looks bad at some places. Maybe they should pay the CGI people more or give them more time to work. There is no reason for crap CGI in this day and age.

The IMAX high price ticket will surely help this movie's box office and it needs all the help it can get. The last movie was helped greatly by being in between to major Avengers movies and the promise of Carol Danvers' importance in the general story. This movie doesn't have that for help so it will be interesting to see how this movie will do at the box office.
