George of the Jungle (1997) review: The greatest movie ever made.
George of the Jungle is one of those films with which, despite its mediocrity, it is quite easy to feel satisfied. Why? Because they know how to deliver exactly what they offer and each of its aspects works harmoniously to do so.
Starring Brendan Fraser (who is very deservedly seeing a revitalization of his career thanks to his performance in The Whale and a great personality), George The Jungle is a Disney film released in 1997 that, parodying the classic story of Tarzan, we shows the life of a man who was raised by animals in the middle of the jungle and who by chance ends up coming into contact with Úrsula, a beautiful woman who is fascinated by his wild personality.
Presented as a comedy with hints of action, the central conflict of George of The Jungle lies in the disconnection that George feels with the dynamics of the civilized world, as well as the disagreement that Ursula feels with Lyle, her current fiancé, a despotic man and who he is incapable of putting someone above himself.
Although its premise is nothing special, we must highlight the agility that George of The Jungle has to execute his comedic points, recurrently using a narrative that is interspersed with breaking the fourth wall, or showing us alternative visions of events. that will occur in the future in a totally different way from what its protagonists expect.
The result? An innocent and funny film, which is far from being as poignant as what we would expect from a more contemporary satire, but which has a certain charm that is difficult to replicate.
Even those aspects of poor quality end up serving to reinforce the warmth of the film, such as the rudimentary special effects (which, by the way, land many extremely ambitious sequences decently), or the humorous gags that last longer than necessary.
Brendan Fraser plays a wonderful role and although he is far from a work of art, we cannot be too critical of a film that so lovingly embraces his very nature.
George of the Jungle es una de esas películas con las que a pesar de su mediocridad es bastante fácil sentirse conforme, ¿Por qué? Porque saben entregar con exactitud lo que ofrecen y cada uno de sus aspectos trabaja de manera armoniosa para hacerlo.
Protagonizada por Brendan Fraser (Quien muy merecidamente está viendo una revitalización de su carrera gracias a su performance en The Whale y una gran personalidad), George of The Jungle es una película de Disney estrenada en 1997 que, parodiando la clásica historia de Tarzán, nos muestra la vida de un hombre que fue criado por animales en medio de la jungla y que por azares del destino termina entrando en contacto con Úrsula, una hermosa mujer que se siente fascinada por su personalidad tan salvaje.
Presentada como una comedia con tintes de acción, el conflicto central de George of The Jungle radica en la desconexión que George siente con las dinámicas del mundo civilizado, así como la inconformidad que Ursula siente con Lyle, su prometido actual, un hombre déspota y que es incapaz de poner a alguien por encima de si mismo.
Si bien su premisa no es nada del otro mundo, debemos destacar la agilidad que George of The Jungle tiene para ejecutar sus puntos comedicos, utilizando de forma recurrente una narración que se entremezcla con una ruptura de la cuarta pared, o mostrándonos visiones alternativas de eventos que ocurrirán en el futuro de una forma totalmente distinta a lo que sus protagonistas esperan.
¿El resultado? Una película inocente y divertida, que dista de ser tan punzante cómo lo que esperaríamos de una sátira más contemporánea, pero que tiene cierto encanto difícil de replicar.
Incluso aquellos aspectos de mala calidad terminan sirviendo para reforzar la calidez del filme, como los rudimentarios efectos especiales (Que por cierto, aterrizan con decencia muchas secuencias extremadamente ambiciosas), o los gags humorísticos que se alargan más de la cuenta.
Brendan Fraser hace un papel estupendo u aunque dista de ser una obra de arte, no podemos ser muy críticos con una película que abraza con tanto amor su propia naturaleza.

Americans love this kind of humor. So do a lot of people outside the U.S. borders. I'm in the opposite camp, it's not a humor that I find funny. I remember as a kid watching Goerge of the Jungle cartoons, now, this movie I avoided watching for a long time, it never caught my attention, until once I found it on a cable TV channel and watched it. All absurd, but I understand that there is an audience that is fascinated by this kind of movies. 😆

HAHA, I remember when I saw this movie, it was a blast, clearly when I was a kid I loved it much more than now, everything if it made me laugh now it makes me a little nostalgic to see it and remember when I watched it on TNT xD. Brendan's role is amazing, without a doubt one of the best!
Hahahaha esta película es un gusto culposo, es bastante mala e incluso berreta, sin embargo por algún extraño motivo es de esos clásicos que se siguen viendo XD
Cómo dices está película cumple su objetivo de manera sencilla, en particular nunca me gustó,no es mi estilo, pero si la Vi.
Creo que hay una segunda película pero la verdad nunca la Vi.

Saludos por aquí. En su momento no me gustó para nada la película. También debe ser porque lo encontraba un poco exagerada con algunos chistes pero luego aprendí a apreciarla, porque resultaba ser dulce en realidad. Un fuerte abrazo para ti.
No es la clase de humor para todo publico, creo que esta mas dirigida a niños, por eso cuando se estreno, a mi me gusto, era una niña, me encanto todo lo que vi, ahora ya luego de los años, es otra cosa, pero aun así, cumplió mas que su función en niños, en adultos cada quien tiene su apreciación.
