Interstellar (2014) review: like father, like daughter.

I admit that despite loving movies these last few years I have encountered a problem that affects my ability to enjoy any movie: I have a fairly short attention span and it is easy to lose interest.

My solution has been very simple: I try to force myself to watch movies with my full attention, putting aside my phone and any contact with the outside world for at least a few hours, trying to absorb everything on the screen in front of me.

And it is that although generally the films that I see are not very exalted by this exercise, there are a couple of exceptions that have blown my mind and allow me to reconnect with the reason why I love cinema in the first place... interstellar is a perfect example of this.

I have read many positive and negative reviews on the internet and both bring up many good points, Interstellar is a movie with heart and many flaws at the same time, complex but at the same time obsessed with ideas that don't make sense even within its own internal logic of the film

Within my concentration exercise, something I always seek to do is disassociate myself from all these complaints and compliments, understanding where they come from but accepting that there is nothing I should embrace more than my own opinion, and what does my opinion say about Interstellar? That Nolan, despite being so pretentious, managed to perfectly land his themes, creating a science fiction film where (although it sounds corny) the power of love between a father and his daughter ends up saving humanity .

Although within the internal logic of Interstellar the "how" has a well-founded answer, on a personal level I was not so focused on this, but rather on the tragic nature of the situation that its protagonists were experiencing, an enslavement to the relativity of time that was impossible to correct.

Beyond the technical explanations, every element of Interstellar exists to reinforce this: the brilliant performances of its leads, the beautiful musical pieces by Hans Zimmer, and the way we rotated intermittently between earth and space.

Its ending may be too optimistic to swallow easily, but Interstellar won my heart.

Admito que a pesar de amar el cine estos últimos años me he encontrado con un problema que afecta mi habilidad para disfrutar cualquier película: tengo un periodo de atencion bastante corto y es facil que pierda el interés.

Mi solución ha sido muy simple: intento esforzarme por ver peliculas con toda mi atencjon, dejando de lado mi teléfono y cualquier contacto con el mundo exterior al menos con unas horas, tratando de absorber todo lo que se encuentra en la pantalla que tengo detrás de mi.

Y es que aunque generalmente los filmes que veo no se ven muy exaltados por este ejercicio, existen un par de excepciones que me han volado la cabeza y me permiten reconectar con la razón por la que amo el cine en primer lugar... interstellar es un ejemplo perfecto de esto.

He leido muchas criticas positivas y negativas en internet y ambas traen a colacion muchos puntos acertados, Interstellar es una pelicula con corazon y muchos defectos al mismo tiempo, compleja pero a la vez obsesionada con ideas que carecen de sentido incluso dentro de la propia logica interna del filme.

Dentro de mi ejercicio de concentracion algo que siempre busco hacer es el disociarme de todas estas quejas y alagos, comprendiendo de donde vienen pero aceptando que no hay nada que debo abrazar más qué mi propia opinión, ¿Y que dice mi opinión sobre Interstellar? Que Nolan, a pesar de ser tan pretencioso, logró aterrizar a la perfección sus temas, creando un filme de ciencia ficcion en donde (aunque suene cursi) el poder del amor entre un padre y su hija termina salvando a la humanidad.

Si bien dentro de la lógica interna de Interstellar el "como" tiene una respuesta bien fundamentada, a nivel personal no me encontraba tan enfocado en esto, sino más bien en la naturaleza tan tragica de la situación que sus protagonistas estaban viviendo, una exclavitud a la relatividad del tiempo que era imposible de corregir.

Más alla de las explicaciones tecnicas, cada elemento de Interstellar existe para reforzar esto: las brillantes actuaciones de sus protagonistas, las hermosas piezas musicales de Hans Zimmer, y la forma en la que rotabamos de forma intermitente entre la tierra y el espacio.

Quizá su cierre sea demasiado optimista como para digerirlo con facilidad, pero Interstellar se ganó mi corazón.
