Worst movie of the year?

While Snow White is far from the worst movie I've ever seen, it's hard to disagree with all the negative things that have been said since its release a couple of weeks ago, not only because it's yet another product in Disney's shameful habit of bringing all of its classics to live action, but because a large number of senseless creative decisions were made that only result in a film far inferior in terms of quality to its 1937 animated counterpart (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs), which, incidentally, was the first feature film produced by Walt Disney.
The decisions to cast Gal Gadot in the antagonist role or to subject Rachel Zegler to the scorn that basically any actress who wanted to play the princess would suffer were just ingredients in a disastrous recipe, whose most regrettable characteristic is not the lack of quality, but the fact that it's so boring. And while the original film managed to hold our attention for 83 minutes with an almost impeccable pace, this remake decides to add 20 more minutes to the total running time, mostly wasted on a cast of characters with no depth whatsoever, with conflicts that are impossible to connect with, and dynamics that contribute nothing to the animated classic.
Honestly, there's nothing to write home about: the musical themes are generic, the direction is bland, and those moments that rely on CGI are technically sound but artistically mediocre. Perhaps the most notable aspect is its ability to bring all its narrative arcs to a relatively satisfactory close, abrupt but compassionate enough to avoid overthinking the predictable.
Marc Webb's direction has all the necessary elements to produce a decent story, but he refuses to take risks and do anything even remotely interesting with his characters. Gal Gadot delivered one of the worst performances of her uneven career, and Zegler, well, does what he can with the role of Snow White.
I would prefer that Disney devote all these resources to creating entirely new stories, or failing that, that they have the guts to renew them in genuinely creative ways, the complete opposite of what these insipid live-action adaptations offer. However, the financial success that even the most criticized ones bring with them suggests that this simply won't happen.

I like it when people come out truthfully to tackle a poorly produced movie 😅
I actually expected more, I regretted watching the movie.p
