Yes, its end was hopeful and it really made me feel quite melancholic. The other movies were good as well, but I don't know if they will match your preference.

Samurai Champloo was an anime I just encountered here, and I was thankful that I decided to watch it because it's so cool :) This list is basically a mix of the anime I've watched and become memorable so the genres are pretty diverse, but I do hope you'll try some of them—especially my number 1, BBB.
