In Anya’s school Cooking Competition, the winner will receive a Stella Star. Upon learning this, Loid decides that Anya must win at any cost. Therefore, Loid resolves to teach Anya how to make the school principal and competition judge’s favorite dessert, "Meremere." However, Anya has never tasted the best-flavored Meremere. So, Loid decides to take Anya, Yor, and Bond on a short family trip to Frigis city, where the finest Meremere can be found.
But is it possible for the entire Forger family to go on a vacation to Frigis together without any trouble arising. One after another, events unfold that force the Forger family to engage in a fierce battle against the military to protect world peace.
Movie Review
Among the recently released series, "Spy X Family" is one of my favorites due to its wholesome family moments and cute, quirky comedy. Therefore, I was very excited for the movie "Spy X Family Code White (2023)." Honestly, this movie thoroughly entertained me from start to finish. The story initially felt like it might be constructed from a collection of small, non-canon mini-stories. However, it gradually builds into a larger arc, presenting a highly entertaining narrative in the movie.
I believe everyone can stay engaged and enjoy it from beginning to end. Regarding the pacing, the start has a slightly slow buildup. All the action is packed into the climactic ending, which I found enjoyable. It felt like the action was a payoff for the somewhat slow setup earlier. Despite the slow start, the events shown in the first and second acts were, as always, fun and refreshing, filled with complete wholesomeness.
The comedy was present in just the right amount in the movie. Additionally, the final action scene was absolutely top-notch. While watching, I repeatedly thought it would have been even better to experience this in a cinema hall. Each main character, namely Anya, Loid, and Yor, was given individual screen time to shine. Their wholesome moments together were also wonderful, and this is indeed the main heart of "Spy X Family." For me, Anya is the soul of this series. In this movie, too, Anya had several epic moments that left me laughing uncontrollably. However, I didn’t particularly like the movie’s villains. They felt somewhat sleazy and annoying.
Animation and Technical Aspects
As always, Wit Studios and CloverWorks together have brought every frame of this movie to life with stunning animation. The facial expressions of all characters, alongside every action sequence, were very well-choreographed. I found Yor’s fight scene at the end absolutely spectacular. Additionally, there were several cinematic shots that made it clear the movie was designed for the big screen in cinema halls. The winter vibe of Frigis city was beautifully visualized. The ferris wheel ride scene with Loid and Yor also felt quite magical due to the visual effects. The voice acting, as usual, was top-notch. The sound design also complemented the scenes well.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it seems like a normal family vacation will never be possible in the Forger family’s life, and this now feels like an established fact. If you are a fan of "Spy X Family," you will definitely like this movie and enjoy it thoroughly. Even if someone hasn’t watched the series, they can still have a good time watching this movie. The movie is crafted in a way that even those who haven’t seen the series can enjoy it.
A bit of backstory is provided at the beginning to explain the series’ general plotline. Therefore, those watching only the movie without seeing the series won’t face much trouble understanding it. The events in the movie are kept simple, as always. For this reason, you can easily sit back and relax while watching this movie.
