The Black Phone 2 Review: A Chilly 80s Throwback with Mild Scares
In 2021, a movie called The Black Phone came out. Now its second part, the sequel, has arrived, named The Black Phone 2. I have completed watching this movie. Actually, it was released earlier in foreign countries, but finally, it has been released in India. If you haven't seen the first part yet, you can watch it.

Talking about this movie, in it, we get to see the story four years after the first movie. Where our hero still receives strange phone calls. But now his sister has also started having strange dreams. Due to those dreams, those things are impacting her real life as well, and to escape all these things, they want to, and there are other reasons too. Along with that, these people go to a winter camp, a Christian winter camp, where they think some solution to their problem might come out, but after going there, the situation becomes very complicated for them. Now it's a matter of their lives. So how these people will deal with it, you have to see inside it.
Let's talk first about the movie's story or the positive things of the movie. In the positive things, the best thing I found was its atmosphere, which reminds of the 80s and 90s, along with a little slasher element that can be seen in it. So those who have watched 1980s slasher movies will definitely feel Australia. Its extreme winter atmosphere, where snow is fallen everywhere, somehow creates a fear in the mind and since it's cold, it's fun to watch too. The rest of everyone's performance is quite good. In the movie, you will get to see blood and violence in good amount, and whatever is there looks quite raw, and the movie's story seemed okay to me. Yes, okay. Didn't feel very good.
The reason for this is that the thrill in the movie is not felt that much. Neither is the tension felt too much. At some places, a little is felt. Neither is there much mystery element in the movie. Nor are there many jump scare or slasher scenes in the movie. Therefore, if you go to watch this movie with expectations of The Nun or Conjuring, then definitely this movie will disappoint you. So therefore, go to watch this movie as a different movie.
If you like 1980s slasher horror movies, then you can go and watch this movie with that expectation. Or if you want to watch a horror movie to pass time, then also you can watch this movie. There was no such scene in it where I or anyone else got scared while watching this movie. Every scene seemed predictable to me, and the majority of the scary scenes shown in it, I had already seen all of them in the trailer because they had shown all those things in the trailer too. Due to this, they don't impact us much.
I am not saying the movie is bad, that the movie is bad. Just the movie is not of that level, the level of expectation I went with, that some scary things will be seen in it and it will be a lot of fun to watch. Like we often go with expectations of Conjuring, The Nun or Annabelle. You won't get to see anything like that in it. Therefore, if you like watching 1980s horror slasher movies, then you can go and watch this movie. But don't go with Conjuring expectations.
I will rate this movie 7 out of 10 because it was an okay movie for me.
