MOVIE REVIEW: IMPRISONED BY LOVE

Imprisoned by love was one of the most heartbreak movie I have watched for long. This movie storyline is not just a movie, but a lesson about love, healing of emotions and feelings to value yourself. Am still in search of more movies like this.

This is an American movie written and directed by Michael Angelo. Which talks about the story of Tracie (played by Reece Odum), a good wife and lovely mother, whose life looks perfect from the outside but is full of agony inside. Tracie husband Gerald (Marvin Baldwin Jr.) Is a drunkard and abusive to her wife, he controls her life. Tracie tries all her best to maintain peace at home because of her children, but nothing is working out. Soon, she had to decide either to stay and keep her marriage. Then continue with the pain or loss her marriage and save her own life.

It been long I heard of this movie, but I decided not to view it, I never know it was such an interesting movie. Maybe if I had watched it before, I may not have understood the movie as much as I do now. Watching it draws my mind to think about love and pain. The importance of running away from something that can hurt you.

Tracie’s journey of life was brutalized in pain, anything she tries to put herself together, I always ask my self, “How much more can she take?” And each time the husband abuse her, I always wish that she should leave.

One of the thing I understand from this movie is that, leaving an abusive relationship is never easy as we thought. People on the outside often say, “Why not just leave?” But this movie shows that it’s more complicated. Because of so many reasons attached which are fear of the unknown, money to eat, who will care for the children and hoping things might get better. Watching Tracie go through all this problems made me to understand how difficult it is to be in an abusive relationship.

There's a particular scene which really touched me, when Tracie was with her friend smiling ahf gisting, but she's actually suffering from internal pain that moment. Most people we see today that smile in public, they're not really happy. Lots of them are passing through emotional heartbreak but choose to hide it with fake smiles.

Gerald perfectly played his role in the movie Marvin Baldwin Jr. Sometimes he tries to be good to Tracie. That is one thing that happens in abusive home. Sometimes the person tries to be good and sweet to the victim, the next minute he turns back to his evil doing. This makes it practically impossible for the victim to leave. Because the victim will continue to hope everything might be okay soon.

The title of the movie "Imprisoned by Love" really fits the story. Tracie was trapped in the middle of abuse because of her loyalty and hope. One thing I learnt from this movie was that. You can forgive someone but that doesn't mean you should still stay in the danger.

I love how the movie focus on the storyline, no too much effects. This made it feel more real and emotional. The music and sound also helped set the mood, especially in the tense scenes.

For me, what I understand from this movie is that love without caring and safety is not a genuine love. it is control. Abuse, whether physical or emotional, destroys the spirit over time. Watching Tracie finally take steps toward freedom was inspiring. It did not mean her life became perfect, but it showed that the first step to healing is leaving a harmful situation.

I loved that the movie also showed the effect on children. A home with an abusive parent affects the children emotion. They will take violence as a usual thing. Children learns faster from what they see. Those scenes made the movie even more powerful.

This movie is not for kids to watch, because of the traumatizing scenes on the movie. It a story that teaches about strength, self-worth, and courage, it is worth your time. It does not just entertain it makes you think.

I would recommend this movie to some people who wants to learn how to run after their own safety. I will rate it 9/10 not because is the best, but it conveys an important message to the general public.
