Antes de empezar mi reseña quiero aclarar que esta es la versión que se encuentra en Netflix y que lleva por titulo solamente "22 de Julio", pues hay otra versión con diferente director y actores titulado " Utoya, 22 de Julio". Pero ambas son tramas de una misma misma historia de hechos reales.

Before I start my review I want to clarify that this is the version that is on Netflix and is titled only "22 de Julio", as there is another version with different director and actors titled "Utoya, 22 de Julio". But both are plots of the same story of real events.

No se si en la otra versión se destaca más el atentado hacia los estudiantes y profundiza el hecho. En esta versión de netflix todo ocurre muy rápido y creo que hay puntos centrales muy importantes a destacar que otras películas sobre ataques terroristas no toman muy en cuenta.

I don't know if the other version highlights more the attack on the students and deepens the fact. In this Netflix version everything happens very fast and I think there are very important central points to highlight that other movies about terrorist attacks do not take in consideration.

Como les dije todo sucede lo bastante rápido, incluso las primeras escenas se deja ver al autor del ataque elaborando las bombas y armas que va a utilizar. Al inicio no hay ningún contexto, no te deja ver si es un terrorista extranjero o patriota. Sin embargo en el desarrollo de todo se deja en evidencia que es de la derecha extremista.

As I told you everything happens fast enough, even the first scenes show the author of the attack elaborating the bombs and weapons he is going to use. At the beginning there is no context, it doesn't let you see if he is a foreign terrorist or a patriot. However, as everything unfolds, it becomes clear that he is a right-wing extremist.

Ninguno de estos elementos que pudieran tomarse como spoiler es lo importante, pues como les dije, todo el ataque es un corta humos para la historia real detrás de este atentado.

None of these elements that could be taken as spoilers are what is important, because as I told you, the whole attack is a smoke breaker for the real story behind this attack.

La soledad, el cambio y la depresión son temas muy interesantes cuando se usan en un film como este. Pues a pesar de que el espectador se deja llevar por la euforia de los efectos, heridos, muertos y la forma cruel y fría en como sucede todo, esta película en particular me hizo enforcarme en los sentimientos y adentrarme más en el verdadero sufrimiento que es el ser un sobreviviente.

Loneliness, change and depression are very interesting themes when used in a film like this. Although the viewer is carried away by the euphoria of the effects, wounded, dead and the cruel and cold way in which everything happens, this particular film made me focus on the feelings and go deeper into the real suffering that is being a survivor.

Como le decía a mi pareja anoche, el verdadero sufrimiento no es morir, una vez que estas muerto no sientes absolutamente nada. Los vivos son los que sufren, los que pierden a otro pero los que sobreviven también.

As I was telling my partner last night, true suffering is not dying, once you are dead you feel absolutely nothing. The living are the ones who suffer, the ones who lose another but the ones who survive too.

Pero antes de enfocar mi reseña en esto, debemos primero saber un poco sobre todo. Pues bueno, en resumidas palabras un hombre se despertó bien temprano por la mañana y quiso hacer un atentado, por lo que preparado todo y lo llevo a cabo de una forma tan precisa y corriente, que me hace pensar que las autoridades estaban jugando solitario en sus computadoras.

But before I focus my review on this, we must first know a little about everything. Well, in a nutshell, a man woke up early in the morning and wanted to make an attack, so he prepared everything and carried it out in such a precise and ordinary way, that makes me think that the authorities were playing solitaire on their computers.

El primer atentado fue una cortina de humo perfecta, porque el verdadero caos ocurre en una isla donde hay cientos de jovenes en un campamento.

The first attack was a perfect smokescreen, because the real chaos occurs on an island where there are hundreds of young people in a camp.

Digamos que esta es la parte mas cruda y real. Seguramente te hará pensar en todos los atentados de EEUU, sobre todo en el ultimo donde murieron muchos niños. Este es básicamente lo mismo, solo que se llevo a cabo por un tema político y racial.

Let's say that this is the crudest and most real part. It will surely make you think of all the attacks in the US, especially the last one where many children died. This one is basically the same, only that it was carried out for a political and racial issue.

El desespero de estos estudiantes, la crueldad y frialdad del terrorista y la incompetencia de las autoridades es algo que me llevo a tener miles de sentimientos incluso a estar lo suficientemente tenso para sentirlo todo.

The desperation of these students, the cruelty and coldness of the terrorist and the incompetence of the authorities is something that led me to have thousands of feelings and even to be tense enough to feel it all.

No debe ser nada fácil ver a tus compañeros, mejores amigos y hermano caer en el suelo muerto por un disparo mientras tu solo estas corriendo intentado sobrevivir.

It can't be easy to see your teammates, best friends and brother fall to the ground dead from a gunshot while you're just running around trying to survive.

Lo peor de todo es que es obvio que el asesino no tiene nada en contra de todos esos jovenes, pero hay un frase que deja en claro todo.

The worst of all is that it is obvious that the murderer has nothing against all these young people, but there is a phrase that makes it all clear.

"Solo les quise dar donde más les duele".

"I just wanted to hit them where it hurts the most".

Y a esto me refiero del tema político llevado de una mala manera por una fanático enfermizo de la derecha que busca que su gobierno aplique políticas restrictivas para los emigrantes.

And this is what I am referring to the political issue, which is being handled in a bad way by a sick right-wing fanatic who wants his government to apply restrictive policies for migrants.

Llega un momento en que no sabes si es una persona enfermiza o si realmente es un grupo de personas con la capacidad de hacer cosas tan atroces como se vieron y vivieron ese 22 de Julio en Noruega.

There comes a moment when you don't know if it is a sick person or if it is really a group of people with the capacity to do such atrocious things as they saw and experienced that July 22nd in Norway.

Por supuesto, como padre no soy voy a echar la culpa al terrorista, sino también a las autoridades. No es como que de la nada alguien compre masivamente elementos que al mezclarlos son volátiles, solo eso debió encender las alarmas. Y no es como si no se pudiera detectar fácilmente. En si se darán cuenta que hubo negligencia desde un inicio.

Of course, as a parent I am not going to blame the terrorist, but also the authorities. It's not like out of the blue someone massively buys items that when mixed are volatile, that alone should have set off alarm bells. And it is not as if it could not be easily detected. In fact, they will realize that there was negligence from the beginning.

Pero regresando a lo que a mi parecer es el punto central de todo esto, el hecho de sobrevivir a una masacre como esta, debería tomarse como un regalo de buenas a primera. Pero el actor principal destaca que no es así. Es decir, no es como si hubiese salido ileso, solo quedo con vida, pero por ello debe sufrir todas las consecuencias que él no se busco, sino que alguien le propino. Creo que ya por allí la frustración que debe sentir es intensa.

But going back to what I think is the central point of all this, the fact of surviving a massacre like this should be taken as a gift from one day to the next. But the main actor stresses that this is not the case. That is, it is not as if he had come out unscathed, he was only left alive, but for that he must suffer all the consequences that he did not seek, but that someone gave him. I think the frustration he must already feel is intense.

El hecho de sobrevivir y escuchar "dale gracias a Dios que estas vivo", es algo que ni yo mismo toleraría. Es un cambio trascendental, en donde tiene que aprender nuevamente a comer, caminar y muchas cosas que hacia ya de una forma normal y rutinaria.

The fact of surviving and hearing "thank God you are alive", is something that even I would not tolerate. It is a transcendental change, where he has to relearn how to eat, walk and many things that he used to do in a normal and routine way.

Por supuesto están las secuelas psicológicas también, ver morir a alguien no es un impacto, mirar como los asesina aún más, pero que se trate de personas que conoces, con las que conviviste o tuviste un sentimiento lo hace más personal y por ende más doloroso.

Of course there are the psychological consequences as well, seeing someone die is not a shock, watching how they are murdered even more, but the fact that they are people you know, with whom you lived or had a feeling makes it more personal and therefore more painful.

Al final de todo, hay un discurso que deja en claro muchas cosas "la vida sigue", y no solo eso, que tenemos alrededor personas que nos quieren, razones de seguir con vida, sueños y sobre todo, la conciencia limpia que nos aleja de convertirse en un asesino más.

At the end of it all, there is a speech that makes clear many things "life goes on", and not only that, we have around us people who love us, reasons to stay alive, dreams and above all, a clear conscience that keeps us away from becoming one more murderer.

Creo que eso fue para el asesino un golpe bastante duro, pues a pesar de su firmeza y seguridad, descubre que su mundo no es tan exacto como se lo imagino.

I think that was quite a blow for the murderer, because despite his firmness and security, he discovers that his world is not as accurate as he imagined it to be.

Lo gracioso de esto es que miembros de la misma derecha radical hicieron mención que fue un descaro, ya que lo pudieron haber hecho mucho mejor que el terrorista. Es decir, para ellos no fue suficiente asesinar 77 personas y entre ellos todos adolescentes ¡que descaro!

The funny thing about this is that members of the same radical right wing mentioned that it was a nerve, since they could have done much better than the terrorist. That is, for them it was not enough to murder 77 people and among them all teenagers, what a nerve!

Esta es una película llena de reflexiones con mucho de que hablar, falta de atención, sobreprotección, empatía, dolor, ausencia y sobre todo cinismo.

This is a film full of reflections with a lot to talk about, lack of attention, overprotection, empathy, pain, absence and above all cynicism.

Lo malo de todo esto es que no es una simple trama inventada, sino que es un hecho real, por lo que seguramente esas familias están incompletas de cierto modo, tal vez tengan miedo pero muy en el fondo también sentirán impotencia por no estar allí con sus hijos, protegerlos e incluso de ser preciso, dar la vida por ellos.

The bad thing about all this is that it is not a simple invented plot, but it is a real event, so surely these families are incomplete in some way, maybe they are afraid but deep down they will also feel helpless for not being there with their children, protect them and even if necessary, give their lives for them.
