Broken City (netflix movie review)

Bonita noche de este martes Hivers, hoy el día ha rendido a pesar de que en la lluvia se ha apoderado de la ciudad. Lo malo es que se me ha olvidado ir a mi entrevista de trabajo pero tengo oportunidad para mañana ya que es tipo jornada y no previa cita.

Me he tomado parte de la tarde para ver una película que me ha recomendado la propia página de netflix. No me di cuenta de lo vieja que era hasta el momento en que me dispuse a buscar un cover para de entrada para esta reseña.

I took part of the afternoon to watch a movie that was recommended to me by the netflix page itself. I didn't realize how old it was until the moment I set out to find a cover for of entry for this review.

2013 fue hace muchos años atrás, pero sinceramente no tenía idea de la existencia de esta película protagonizada por actores de gran talla. Da la casualidad que tiene una de esas tramas que tanto me gusta y es el complot de lo político con la justicia sobre quienes creen que el poder lo es todo.

2013 was many years ago, but I honestly had no idea of the existence of this movie starring actors of great stature. It happens to have one of those plots that I like so much and that is the plot of politics and justice over those who believe that power is everything.

Tengo que destacar algo que me fascino y es ver a la espectacular Catherine Zeta-Jones hacer el papel de primera dama siendo la esposa del Alcalde quien es interpretado por Russell Crowe un excelente actor también.

I have to point out something that fascinated me and that is to see the spectacular Catherine Zeta-Jones playing the role of the first lady as the wife of the Mayor who is played by Russell Crowe, an excellent actor as well.

No puedo quejarme en absoluto de la escogencia tan magnífica de estos actores para llevar a cabo sus roles.

I can't complain at all about the superb casting of these actors in their roles.

Z-Jones en particular me gusto porque la mayoría de la trama se enfoca en ella, con ese lado de misterio y posible traición matrimonial. Pensado para que el público en general haga hipótesis sobre una infidelidad que si bien no es secreto carece de pruebas para el Alcalde.

Z-Jones in particular I liked because most of the plot focuses on her, with that side of mystery and possible marital betrayal. Intended for the general public to hypothesize about an infidelity that while not secret lacks proof for the Mayor.

Es allí donde entra Mark Wahlberg como un investigador privado quien tuvo que dejar su rol de detective para la policía luego de verse implicado en un asesinato del cual se definió como un asesinato sin resolver por faltas de pruebas, quedando absuelto pero sacrificando su puesto de trabajo para evitar conflictos posteriores ya que el público en general pedía justicia por lo sucedido.

It is there where Mark Wahlberg enters as a private investigator who had to leave his role as a detective for the police after being implicated in a murder which was defined as an unsolved murder due to lack of evidence, being acquitted but sacrificing his job to avoid further conflicts since the general public demanded justice for what happened.

Mark es contratado por el mismo Alcalde para un trabajo en secreto donde tenía que seguir a la primera Dama y descubrir con quien era que se estaba viendo y si efectivamente se trataba de una infidelidad.

Mark is hired by the Mayor himself for a secret job where he had to follow the first lady and find out who she was seeing and if it was indeed an infidelity.

Según las investigaciones de este detective privado todo apuntaba a que efectivamente era lo pensado, sin embargo todo se vuelve un poco caótico cuando se descubre que el hombre misterioso es un miembro de equipo del otro candidato a las elecciones.

According to the investigations of this private detective everything pointed to the fact that it was indeed what was thought, however everything becomes a little chaotic when it is discovered that the mystery man is a team member of the other candidate for the elections.

Inmediatamente pensé que se trataba de una doble traición, y de ser así se trataría de algo bastante descarado pues no solo se trataría de que le engaña con otro hombre, creo que lo que más le dolería es que fuese con alguien del otro partido que por supuesto es básicamente como el enemigo; hablando en términos de competencia política.

Everything becomes more tense when they find a dead person on the streets, being about the mystery man Zeta-Jones in her role was meeting. Pero pues como espectador de la trama no hay mucho que pensarlo, muy bien se sabe quién es el culpable, el problema es que se trata de alguien con el suficiente poder para hacer olvidar el caso y manipular incluso a los cuerpos policiales sobre todo cuando estos no tienen una prueba del delito cometido.

But as a spectator of the plot there is not much to think about, it is well known who the culprit is, the problem is that it is someone with enough power to make forget the case and manipulate even the police forces especially when they do not have proof of the crime committed.

Pero todo el rumbo de la trama cambia cuando se descubre que no había ningún indicio de infidelidad debido a que el asesinado en cuestión era homosexual quien incluso tenía posiblemente una relación con el candidato a la alcaldía.

But the whole course of the plot changes when it is discovered that there was no evidence of infidelity because the murdered man in question was a homosexual who possibly even had a relationship with the mayoral candidate.

Esto cambia por completo el panorama del detective privado quien ahora tiene que descubrir bajo mucho peligro la verdadera razón por la cual ah sido contratado y esclarecer los hechos de esa noche en que fue asesinado el hombre misterioso que al final resultó ser el mejor amigo de la primera Dama.

This completely changes the outlook of the private detective who now has to discover under great danger the real reason why he was hired and clarify the facts of that night when the mysterious man was murdered, who in the end turned out to be the best friend of the first lady.

Cabe destacar que la verdad involucra un tema político bastante fuerte, que al salir a la luz puede dar un vuelco tremendo a las elecciones incluso inhabilitando al actual alcalde para su posible reelección.

It should be noted that the truth involves a very strong political issue, which, if brought to light, could turn the elections upside down, even disqualifying the current mayor for his possible reelection.

Sin embargo, hay hechos del pasado que regresan a la vida del detective, donde cae en una realidad y tiene que escoger si permitir que el Alcalde se salga con la suya mintiendo al pueblo o sacrificar sus días de libertad.

However, there are events from the past that come back into the detective's life, where he falls into a reality and has to choose whether to let the Mayor get away with lying to the people or sacrifice his days of freedom.

Me ha gustado mucho esta trama, tiene sus elementos interesantes y la historia nunca pierde el contexto a pesar de que cambia muchas veces de enfoque.

I really enjoyed this plot, it has its interesting elements and the story never loses context even though it shifts focus many times.
