Undoubtedly, movies and novels do play a major role in making up our minds and imagination. Talking about romantic movies specifically, they have successfully taught us something about love. Their scripts and expressions are stored in our brains. There is always a specific movie which we play in our minds while sleeping or at free times by replacing the characters and putting oneself in those scenes.

The effects of romantic movies and novels mainly depends on the age. There are many types of romantic movies and novels. It’s a category with many sub-types to target people from different ages.

I have been watching Bollywood romantic movies from my childhood. Due to cultural differences, I was unable to find pleasure or fun in watching Hollywood romantic movies. However, I would say movies from 90s were the best but later on Bollywood also changed their way of thinking for romantic movies and started working like western way to give new thinking to new generation.

I personally was not involved in any relationship in my young age. So, I do not have any personal experience to share the effects of romantic movies. However, in school days, when I was in 5th class, I just spread the word that I like one girl just to get famous in the school. It worked and students talk about me and that girl. She was not interested in me though, that also gives me opportunity to say filmy lines and act like one of the actors in romantic movies, singing songs for her. That was too childish but if I think about it now, it was the impact of romantic movies. This is the only story which is related to romantic movies somehow.

Later on, I made my mind as a one woman man and waited for my wedding which was arranged marriage. Never had any relationship in between. But I can share my thoughts on romantic movies. It is true that they gives one high hope but on the other hand, it is up to that person to control and have the ability to know the difference in reality and films.

Movies are 2 – 3 hours of timeline in which everything goes well and have happy ending but real life doesn’t act like that. You cannot live your whole life in being a character. The fight between couples ends up in a 5 minute of song but in reality that song never comes and those 5 minutes changed into 50 days or more. Never that easy to end up a fight or argument. These are the after effects and disappointments one faces after getting too much involve in a character from a romantic movie.

Living a married life, it is so simple for me to just enjoy watching a love story and laugh on the fictional scenes which are way far from reality. I never took a lesson or learnt anything from romantic movies. It is just a good time pass for me or sometimes works as a mood changer.

I would always recommend youngsters to just make it simple and be respectful and sincere to your love partner.

Great post @rosecane 😊 I think it is extremely interesting that you choose to wait for marriage, is that a common choice amongst your peers? I dated a fair bit before marriage, yet I seem to have come to many of the same conclusions. A simple and honest approach towards marriage is the best love story!

@grindan it was my choice and decision however, it is not the same here with everyone. Thank you for reading my article!!!

I love the Indian tradition of women's marriage life, most Indian women I have met on blogging platforms didn't have any form of relationship before marriage and the only part of the story is the arranged marriage, I don't find that cool.

What we see in movies are completely different from the real world but a lot of people see these things from the wrong angle which ends up causing them trouble in their relationships. Relationship standards should not be determined by movies or books, we should be real and true to what we really feel.

@george-dee movies are just for fun not for lessons however, there are some movies which gives a good lesson and teach how to handle situation but still it is just a fictional movie and reality is totally different from that where it is not that easy to handle such situations....

That's one of the things about romantic movies, they are usually unrealistic in portraying love. That is something they need to improve on.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

@bruno-kema they will not get much viewers if they will show the real picture of love and after effects, and also all of us know the reality and to get some good vibes, romantic movies plays an important role and somewhat succeeds in changing the perception or the way we perceive love but not for a long time.

The fight between couples ends up in a 5 minute song but in reality, that song never comes and those 5 minutes changed into 50 days or more.

This sounds so funny but it's true

I never learned anything from romantic movies

You just made good points here though many do not see that it is fictional though the positive manner is a good go for an ideal home most people will not want it this way due to how strong our heart has become over time.

Thanks for sharing

@hivedeb time has changed the way of thinking and specially the new generation, they are into doing something new and different from the past generation in which they are losing their culture values, mainly those which are important to live a happy life.
Thank you for reading my article!!!!

You cannot live your whole life in being a character

Well said! People shouldn't really take the things they watch to heart or expect reality to be just like that. Those novels and movies are scripts! They are written down and staged, they're mostly imagined not real so no one should have high expectations from it.

@didiee exactly, real life is where you write your own script and act according to the situation. Thank you for reading my blog!!!
