AKA (2023) My Review: More than you'd expect from a French action film.

It's satisfying in and of itself to discover a good movie that is not well-reviewed by the mainstream media. That's how I felt while watching the film AKA. Because this film does not star a well-known actor, my expectations were low. However, after watching AKA, I can praise and recommend it. Aside from the strong narrative, the action scenes are also quite satisfying, despite the low budget.

The plot of a lone agent who can complete risky missions makes us think of Bourne, John Wick, or Taken. The plot is also similar to that of Adam Franco, as played by Alban Lenoir. This agent is forced to return to his homeland to infiltrate a mafia gang under the command of Victor Pastore, played by Eric Cantona. Of course, Adam Franco has a reason for disguising himself and attempting to gain Victor's trust. Because, according to the French government and intelligence, Victor is close to Moktar Al Tayeb (Kevin Layne), the mastermind of the bombing at the Etoile Hotel.

As a result of his success in disguising himself and gaining Victor's trust, Adam begins to feel a connection to Victor's children, Jonathan and Helene. Adam can be present and protect these two brothers whenever there are problems. This is what causes Adam to rediscover his true self. Adam discovered many conspiracies as a result of the conflict within Victor's family, the conflict with the rival Mafia, and the safety of the two brothers. Adam had to decide what he wanted to be. whether he should be a good hero and choose who to protect, or whether he should side with the intelligence orders where he works.

This French film contains numerous shooting fights. However, it cannot be compared to a Hollywood-level effect. It's just that actor Alban Lenoir's acting was able to demonstrate his class by successfully playing the role of agent "One Man Action" as well as Matt Damon's acting. An agent who is perplexed and eventually discovers his true identity at the end of the film. Of course, other characters contribute to the narrative and story of this film, but you may not recognize many of them.

The script is good, and the plot will immerse you in the conflict's tension. Leads you to discover who the mysterious Adam Franco is at the start of the film. The action is not monotonous; in addition to shooting scenes, there are close-range fighting scenes, as well as MMA-style boxing and throwing. Fans of action and spy movies will be pleased with this film.

Don't forget that at the end of the story, story writer Morgan S. Dalibert will surprise you with something unexpected. The film's length, which is approximately 2 hours, does not feel tedious because you are presented with a complete action spectacle. After watching it, you will undoubtedly wish for the next chapter of Adam Franco's adventures.
