After 30 - Life Of 4 ladies after hitting 30

Hi movie lovers,

Here I am with another movie review. If I can remember well, I think I got this movie recommendation from TikTok. It’s been a while since I saw a movie on TikTok and instantly got hooked. This time last week i was scrolling TikTok when I saw this awesome movie and immediately thought it’ll be nice to watch.

This time round it’s not an American or action movie like I seem to be reviewing a not these days. This time round it’s a Nigerian movie. One thing that I like about Nigerian movies is that they play a vital role in talking about what is happening in the society. I agree that at times things are exaggerated but then most of the time things that are portrayed in Nigerian movies are things which are happening in our space at the moment.

Last week I reviewed a movie where I said I didn’t like how it ended. Well this is one of those movies. But in their defense they want to make a continuation of the movie but I will not be waiting round cause the interval between the first one they did and the second one literally took years. To put it into context it took almost 10 years.

The movie I will be reviewing today is titled after 30. After 30 is a Nigerian movie which was released last month. After 30 is a movie which is a continuation of a series titled before 30. As I was saying before 30 is an 8 series which was released in 2015 about 4 friends wo were navigating life trying to find themselves.

Now after about 10 years the movie produces decided to make after 30 which is not a series but just a single movie. I’ve always said that single movies make it really hard for the story writer to tell the whole story and I was right about this one. They end up making scenes shorter and then literally annoying or confusing the audience.

I best believe that since it’s mother movie waa a series they should have made this one too a series cause a lot of things had to be said in this one.

After 30 is a movie about these same four girls who have navigated live and are now portrayed as older, wiser and more mature women. All four are still stuck trying to find themselves. Each of these ladies have where they struggle but then they always seem to find a way.

After 30 was written by Bibi ukpo, omorinsojo spaine and BB sasore. It was directed by Omorinsojo Spaine.

These are my honest thoughts.

First of all you don’t need to watch before 30 before you understand what this movie is about. Infact as you watch the characters make sure you understand how things were in the series before.

As much as I enjoyed watching some parts of this movie I still think it was thought through. You know when you make a series and it becomes a hit and everyone seems to talk about it? Yeah, that’s what happened to the writers of before and after 30. Their movie, before 30 made hit and they wanted to replicate it and thought it’ll be a good idea to put out something that’ll appeal to us. Yes, it did appeal to people who watched before 30 to watch after 30 but am sure after watching they’d be disappointed.

That’s why I said some movies are never good as single movies and after 30 is one of them. I’ll go ahead and rate this a 6.5/10 not because it’s a bad movie but because it lacked a lot of insight.

I am sure when you watch this movie you’d enjoy it but you won’t be happy at how it finishes.
