I am a big fan of animated movies. Seeing the prompt for this week, I knew I didn't have to look far as the movie to review immediately came to mind.

I loved this movie immediately I watched it the first time and I remember watching it over and over again. Letting go of the movie from my phone was very hard for me to do as I found it hard to let go.

A @dreemport challenge introduced me to Duolingo in 2023 where I started learning Spanish language and though I had seen this movie before then, I had to watch it all over again. It helped me understand some of the songs in the movie and also helped me learn new words in Spanish.

“What is this movie you are talking about?”, Yes, forgive me for being carried away. The movie is no other than “COCO”.

Coco is a 2017 animated film. It follows the story of a young boy named Miguel (Anthony Gonzalez) who is a music lover but hides his passion for music from his family due to his family's prejudice against music. An unintentional accident on the “Dia de los Muertos”(The Day Of The Dead) led him to a discovery that changed his future.

“What I loved about the movie?”

I am yet to find what I didn't like about the movie, I mean what's not to like. The music, acting, storyline and everything about it is top notch. This movie is amazing. It reminds us of the importance of forgiveness especially when it comes to family and our loved ones. Family should be able to support you no matter what and this movie showed just that.

The movie also talks about the importance of music. Music is not only food for the soul but how music has a way of bringing people together no matter how far apart they are.

“Significance of the movie”

This movie taught us not to give up on our dreams irrespective of the opposition or backlash we might face. Miguel's love for music despite his family's disapproval led him to finding out more about the reason why they all hated music in the first place and this further led to old secrets being revealed and errors of the past were reconciled.

This movie also reminds us not to forget our loved ones whether they are alive or dead. Some of us find it hard to travel to our hometown to visit our grandparents especially during festive periods.

There are certain cultural heritages that are not being passed down to the younger generation due to this lacuna. There is need to value family and cherish the bonds that we share especially with our elderly relatives.

I love the songs in this movie, I presented some of this songs of the movie in the Hive open mic community here on hive and also increases my love for Spanish songs.

This movie is highly recommended for those that are yet to see it. I gladly rate this movie and 8.5/10 stars.

Thank you for reading.

I liked Coco the first time I watched it as well. I liked the musicals and the way the evil man who killed Mama Coco's father was killed again in the spirit world. It was hilarious to me.
