My unrealized dream
Greetings!
One thing about this life is that it's full of mystery and ups and downs and aside this, this life is a life that would not give us humans what we deserve, unless we all strive for the best which is in most cases our dreams.
Living up to one's dream in life might not come on a platter of gold, but if one can achieve the fit of living one's dream life, then fulfillment of destiny is guaranteed.
So, back to the topic before us this week, I would like to thank everyone for visiting and engaging in my last post in last week's contest. Thanks so much Hivians, God bless you real good.
So, as regards the topic, I would like to tell all of us here that my childhood dream was to become a soldier and this was really my lifetime dream. I could remember there's a song we used to sing in those days which goes thus.
“I'm a soldier in my country. Everybody knows me well. If you look me up and down, you will know that is good.”
This song really prompted my dream of becoming a soldier when I was a child and not only that, those toy guns my parents used to get for me and the military shoe endeared me to the military profession. I so much love becoming a military personnel that I used to play the role of a military man in our school and church playlet. Even though none of my family members were military personnel, I just personally love the job.
Also, as I was growing up, my love for this military job was waxing stronger to the extent of joining the boys scout in my school and the boys brigade at church. Back then, I really made sure I got myself involved in all those things that would make me fit into my dream job which I really enjoyed so much maybe because of my passion for my dream job.
Aside from this, my love for watching action military movies rose to the peak while growing up and I could remember one of those films back in the days that got me afraid of my dream job plus what was going on around me regarding the terrorist attack happening in some part of my country.
So, the events that happened in the movie really got to me and this was because many soldiers were killed in the movie by the unrepentant terrorist. Though the military later got their victory over the terrorists but at the expense of the lives of the soldier heroes. Also, similar things were also witnessed in the north eastern part of my country in the said period where soldiers were being slaughtered anyhow across the the northern part of my country and as if that was not enough, we also got report of lack of good welfare for those men sacrificing their lives to safeguard the sovereignty of our nation and as for those who had lost their lives due to war against terrorism, we got the report of their benefits not being paid to their bereaved families.
So, all these and many more took my mind off the job of my dream. Though, it's very tough on me to sacrifice the job of my dream for another job on the basis of those things listed above, but if I wouldn't take such decisions, my family would do it for me. So, these reasons plus that of my parents decision led me to pursuing another dream in impacting lives through teaching. This I have been doing and enjoying all my life and I have never regretted doing the same.
This is my entry to the sciFi weekly prompt.
Thanks for reading.

I understand how certain dreams can be cut off due to the negative happenings around them. But then, not all soldiers are allowed to go to those wars, right?
Some persons are supposed to be in the office safeguarding the premises.
Yes, i just realized that when I grew up, but it's late. Thanks for stopping by.
I understand you perfectly while I respect those military guys and what they are doing, I don't think I would advise any member of my family to be one, except if things eventually change in the country but for now, the military is a no no for me.
Hmmm, it's true. Thanks for stopping by.
Always welcome 🤗
Your detour is totally understandable, I don't know what gives people the mind to sign up for a military career in Nigeria, I would not encourage any of my love ones to sign up for that.
It's because of my love for their uniform. Thanks for stopping by.
Childhood dreams sometimes remain unfulfilled, as I just mentioned in a comment, which has nothing to do with research. Still, to fulfill one's dreams, one needs hard work and dedication, which is possible in childhood. If one tries to fulfill one's dreams in childhood, one can fulfill one's dreams, but not all dreams come true. Some may come true, but some remain unfulfilled. With hard work and dedication, work is possible here, and one should be committed to it.
