Happy weekend to everyone in the Hive community. Hope you are all fine? Today I will be discussing the movie Pick up, an American heist comedy action movie produced and directed by Tim Story.
THE PLOT
The movie which featured Eddie Murphy, Pete Davidson, Eva Longoria and Keke Palmer is an interesting movie to be seeing over and over again.
The movie is about a young girl who was out on a revenge mission on what a Casino company did to his father and her family. She said she was on a revenge mission on how her father's heroism was treated because of something important which was the money which his father helped the company to save from being affected by fire.
In the process of his father's heroism of preventing the fire to burn the money and his co-worker, the father lost his life and afterwards his family was not compensated and were left to suffer and this was what prompted Zoe, the daughter of the deceased, to plan a robbery on the casino which was successful.
THE ANALYSIS AND SUMMARY
The pick up is a very interesting movie that I would love to watch over and over again.
One thing I love so much about the movie is the mixture of comedy and action together. At one point you see comedy in operation and at the other time, you see action at its full length. So, the mixture of the two makes the movie so interesting and never boring.
Another thing I love about the movie is the individual roles of the characters. For someone like Eddie Murphy, he really did well and performed his role with due diligence and maturity which comes with his acting experience. The way he tried to manage Tarvis Stolly, the rookie with the young lad's behaviour speaks so much about his level of maturity and acting experience.
Also, the way he handled his wife even at the peak of the main event of the movie shows that he can handle situations even when it's most tense. He was able to maneuver the situation and made things look simple when it would have been tensed.
Also, the character of Travis in the movie is kind of the opposite of Russell's. He was not too mature and couldn't really handle situations as Russell would handle situations. Had it been Russell was not by his side, he would have been consumed, but even at his character and his role in the movie. He too has his strength as he was able to help in saving Russell life when he was being shot by Banner and Miguel. Also, he helped to chase after Banner who they later caught up with at the end.
Furthermore, the character of Zoe in the movie is that of a smart and brave lady who would do anything to fight back on those who she thinks are her enemy and her family's betrayal. She went after those who made her a fatherless person and fought on behalf of her dead father who died out of his heroism to the casino company he worked for.
One thing I liked about her was her determination to go on a revenge mission on those she felt killed her father. Though what she did was wrong, her act of bravery and smartness should be applauded.
However, the way she got the armored vehicle hijacked was a bad light of who a decent lady of her type should be. Also, getting Travis drunk was another devilish act from her. Going too far on her revenge mission where lives were being lost is not too good enough for her and her family.
Although, she made sure she get Russell's share across to him, but to be candid, all her moves in the movie were bad.
I would also not forget the characters of Clark, Banner and Miguel. They all play their roles, but were later betrayed by Russell, Travis and Zoe respectively.
In addition the characters of Natalie, Russell's wife cannot be overemphasized. She really played her role to the fullest and came in when it mattered most. Though she traced her husband's location through her phone and was later trapped down by Zoe, her timely intervention in killing Banner saved the trio of her husband, Russell, Travis and Zoe. She's just a brave, loving and smart woman.
One thing I love about the movie is the cinematography, the music being used to embellish the movie and the clear pictures.
RATING
I would like to rate the movie 7/10.
Thanks for reading.
