A New Mortal Kombat Movie is coming

Growing up as a little kid, Mortal Kombat has always been my go-to game, especially after I finish my homework, and finally, I have the chance to play a video game, either on my mom's phone or my own, when I finally got one. So it is only normal that I wasted no time watching the Mortal Kombat movies when they finally came out.

The first Mortal Kombat I watched, which I remember vividly well, had Liu Kang, Jonny Cage, and I think Sonia as the lead characters, where they entered into the Mortal Kombat Tournament filled with so many deadly fighters. I remember back then asking myself why anyone would want to enter into such a competition when you know you could die just because you were fighting in a cage. But now that I am much older, I understand that there is an honour code that comes with these battles, thereby making it more enticing for the fighters to engage in such battles.

Back then, Sub-Zero has always been my favourite among the numerous fighters that registered for the tournament. Simply because of his ability to freeze his opponent. I even remember how I wrote sub-zero special moves in my notebook, and I would take it to school to show my friends so they could try it out when next they played on their system.

After the success of the first Mortal Kombat movie and even the video game, it has now become a new sequel to expect something new from the Mortal Kombat franchise at least yearly. If it is not a new update to the Mortal Kombat game, then it is the release of a new Mortal Kombat movie, which takes more time, given that a lot goes into the acting of the movie, the set, location, budget, cast and crew, and the perfect viewing time in the cinema.

The new Mortal Kombat titled Uncaged Fury is coming this October 2025, and it will have Karl Urban acting as Jonny Cage, who I think might be the lead focus. Like I mentioned earlier in this post, Liu Kang was the focus of the first Mortal Kombat movie, but this time it will be Jonny Cage. Although with what I can see from the teaser I watched this morning, after receiving a notification from IGN's YouTube channel, I can tell there will be a lot of action, and above all, film tricks.

Therefore, I think it will be ideal for me to keep an open mind for entertainment, and entertainment only when watching this movie. I won't be bugging myself with questions like: is this possible, or asking myself how they achieved this. It will only ruin the fun of the movie. Mortal Kombat has always been purely for the purpose of action and entertainment, with some decent storyline to validate a fighter's anger or desire to want the other person dead.

I do not want to jinx it, but I am a bit excited about what they have to offer in this movie, since Mortal Kombat happens to be one of my favourite games, along with NBA2K. Mortal Kombat brings back nostalgic memories of my childhood whenever I play the game, and NBA2K is a huge passion of mine for basketball and contact sports.

Will the New Zealand actor Karl Urban do a great job in portraying Jonny Cage compared to his predecessor, who has played the same role in the past? Well, we can say much for now except his action and choreographic movement during his fight scenes in the teaser are not bad, coupled with he is no stranger to action movies, given his roles in Xena, Almost Human, Star Trek, and many more.
I will be rooting for as Jonny Cage in the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie, let's see what he has installed for us.
