Movie Review: The Kill Room

Hi everyone, I’ve been sick for a while, and honestly, it’s been a very tough period with a lot happening. I haven’t really been active on Hive or running chess tournaments , but I feel like it’s time to slowly get back to writing and resuming while I manage my health and everything else going on.

So, here’s my little comeback post, a movie review.

Over time, you check the most random movie on Netflix without having any knowledge about the movie before the point when you clicked on the movie to watch it. All you know is that you clicked on the watch button and held back to see what the movie has to offer. Sometimes it can be quite interesting to see what movies like this could mean for you as a movie lover. All of social media influence plays a major role in determining what we might decide to watch at any given time. This is what I decided to do when I jumped on the movie The Kill Room on Netflix.

Believe me when I say this movie is pretty hilarious, with a bit of twists and turns from different points of the movie. Initial the entire premise of the movie is pretty hilarious. How does a well-known hitman become a big name in the world of art? You are pretty good at your job of killing bad people for the mob, and all of a sudden you become a renowned artist in the world of art. This is more than interesting when I gave it a watch. At first, I was thinking this might be a simple crime drama, but it becomes interesting when it gets switched up, when there is comedy fused into the movie and a bit of mystery from time to time.

Right from the title, you would expect something entirely action will shooting from left to right and killing, as the title of the movie implies, but that is not the case. It gives you an example of surprise. You do not know what to expect and how things would play out in the course of the movie. The plot of the movie kicks off with an art exhibitor whose gallery is going under due to the struggles of her business. This springs from a popular misconception of her being dropped by a popular artist. It becomes popular news in the art world, as it so happens that information flies pretty fast in this world.

For a turnaround, things begin to evolve as she gets into business with a new business partner played by Samuel Jackson and a hitman, played by Joe Manganiello. With the help of the art exhibitor, who is an amazing character played by Uma Thurman, they use her gallery as a front to move illicit funds gotten from the business conducted by the hitman. All she has to do is make it look like the artwork being sold at her gallery is made by the hitman, and the artwork is sold for a huge amount, all money made by the hitman's job. Things were working out fine for the art exhibitor as money and more money kept flowing through her gallery. This gave her money, which she could in return invest in her gallery, but things got interesting; other buyers became interested in the artwork as well.

So the way it works in the art world is that exclusivity only makes people want it more and more. The more sales the artwork made, which was initially a front, brought the interest of collectors, and gradually their interest in the work began to rise. Also, although the artwork of the hitman was quite hideous, it had some form of flair and darkness attached to it, which gave the artwork a unique distinction.
