The Dragon Clock puppet show is somewhat removed... but that wasn't as missed as I though I'd be
The entire Childhood section is added.
Her nanny bear was new.
The bear added a LOT of necessary color to Elphaba's "CAUSE" that was missing from the musical.
The whole thing about Shiz, was different... she was was already enrolled, just didn't get a room due to logistical errors.
So no magical display, but again, that makes sense as an addition.
The whole animal gathering wasn't there... just a song by Dr. Dillamond singing it to Elphaba directly.
Fiyero meeting Elphaba was different... his servent almost ran her over with his carriage as he was being dropped at Shiz.
My only problem is with the walk-out to his place, being a bit forced in the movie version, but that was always an issue in the musical... you sort of just ended up in the goat's private quarters.
The ending of the classroom with the caged lion cub was different too...
She just sends everyone into like some kind of musical dancing spasm thing... and she and Fiyero saves it.
As I said, the poppy is an hommage to the Wizard of Oz movie
The whole One Short Day was HUGELY expanded... obviously, with the whole clarification of the Grimmerie and the excellent cameo by the OZ City Players.
The original musical just has the tourism part, and end directly at OZ's palace.
No mini play.
No Yellow Brick Road reference in the Musical, with the model.
The balloon remnant wasn't there in the musical, as well as the whole childhood reflection thing. And this section was expanded and stretched out a lot, to play on the two women in closeup... again.. I like
So yeah, so far all the additions were smart and organic and made sense to both the songs and the story of the musical.
A huge amount of minor differences, but that's why we have a movie lol.
