It's been a long time since I made my last post on the Hive Learners community and I do not know if anyone still remembers me so here I am to make a post about the movie Spider-man No Way Home as one of the last films that I was able to personally watched on a theater when it was released and left me with different types of emotions within its 2- hour runtime. The movie was released on December 2021 and has earned almost $ 2 billion in box office, starring Tom Holland as Spider-man/Peter Parker but there's more because Tobey Maguire from Sam Raimi's Spider- Man trilogy and Andrew Garfield from the TASM Duology was both present to the film, making it a masterpiece celebrating 3 generations of live action Spider-Man.

Quick Summary:

Spider-Man: No Way Home was the 3rd installment of the film under the Marvel Cinematic Universe (where) it follows the story from Spider-Man: Far from Home where Mysterio, the villain of the film reveals to the world the identity of Spiderman as Peter Parker and frames him up for his death that resulted for them to be called in court to clean their names while their life was in constant public attention. To return his life back to normal, he haske Doctor Strange to cast a spell which will make people to forget his Identity but due to Peter's constant nagging to alter the spell, the spell gets corrupted and instead of making people to forget his identity, it opens the portal that lets villains from different universe to hunt him.

If I have to say the first 2 MCU Spider-Man films were great but it fails in comparison from what No Way Home was able to accomplish. By now, I bet everyone has already watched this film so I do not need to be careful about spoilers that took place in the movie as I wrote the things about this film that really impressed and/or shocked me.

Trying to find the Good Within People:

What happens after Spider-Man meets all the villains from other universe, he learned that if they go back to their original world they would just die and upon learning this, he decided to help make a cure so that they could return in their world without any problems, hoping that they would turn a new leaf for the second life that they received. He even fought against Doctor Strange in order to save them.

No matter how bad a person is, we should find in our selves to find the good within them and pull it out to help them to go back in the good side instead of right away judging them due to their past mistakes. Cause everyone deserves a second chance in life.

The Death of Aunt May

Peter was on the process of making cure for each villains as well as to remove their powers but during the process, his spider-sense alarms him of a danger and this was because Green Goblin has retaken Norman Osborn and has convinced the other villains to betray him. A battle has unfold between Spider-Man and the villains and at the end of the battle the villains escaped while Aunt May which stands as Peter's guardian and moral compass was left gravely injured and was later died. On her last moments she spoken the words "With great power, there must also come with great responsibility".

Aunt May has a major supporting role on Peter's life as she was his only remaining relative so her death was quite unexpected not only for me but also for the rest of the audience in the theater which for a moment has become really silent as if to mourn her death. I also think that the timing of her death has caught people off-guard. Usually, if you kill an important character, you put them in the ending of the film but on this, they put it on the middle and that really pulls the emotion among the audience.

Here Comes Nonstalgia: Peter meets Peter and Peter

Peter, devastated by the death of her Aunt May runs away to be alone an mourn without telling his whereabouts to his girlfriend MJ and bestfriend Ned so to find him using Doctor Strange' sling ring but instead of finding his best friend, he finds 2 different Perter Parker that came from the same universe where the villains comes from. With their help, MJ and Ned was able to find their universe's Peter and provide it with the emotional support that he needs. Together, they resume the making the cure for the villains and after that, they invite the villains for a final showdown on the Statue of Liberty which is being remodeled to have Captain America's Shield.

The death of Aunt May has left everyone really sad but during this moment, the sadness was replaced with joy and a standing ovation when the 2 Peters was revealed. They had a little showdown to prove that both were Spider-Man but they made Ned's Grannie to scold them since they throws spider web on her house. This scene also made us laugh real hard because she spoke in Filipino language which makes it a great fan service for us which lives in the Philippines.

When they find Peter, the 3 Peter shared each of their loss where Toby Maguire's Peter tells the story of when his Uncle Ben died while Andrew Garfield's Peter tells how Gwen his version of MJ in that universe died, tracing to the events of Sam Reimi's Spider-Man and TASM Spider-Man which leaves a deep darkness in their hearts. It was another tear-jerking scene that once again, fill the theater with sadness but the 2 Peter do not want Tom Holland's Peter to go through the same thing by reminding him that "With great power comes with great responsibility". Together, they proceed with making the cure for the villains and when they do, they challenge the villains for the final showdown.

Final Showdown in the Place that Represents Second Chances

For the final attempt to cure the villains, they called the villains on the Statue of Liberty. The final battle unfolds were they were able to administer the cure Sandman, Lizard and Electro, with the help of Doctor Octopus. The coordination and teamwork between the 3 Spider-Man was really amazing as if they were brothers in arms that have spent long time together. As The situation seems to finally calm down, Ned opens the portal for Doctor Strange in order to cast the spell that will bring them on their respective universe and as he was about to start casting the spell, the Green Goblin comes back for the final confrontation and administer the cure but at this point, the other visitors from other universe had started to come through and the only way to keep them out was if everyone will forget who Peter was and made the ultimate sacrifice of being forgotten by all the people that he knows. Peter says a final goodbye to his fellow Spider-Man and to his friends and the world has returned to normal.

For those that watched the TASM 2 Spider-Man, we know that Peter was not able to save Gwen and this has been his regret that makes him bitter and hate being Spider-Man so when he saw that MJ was falling, he immediately comes to her rescue and redeem himself. At the same time, as he shares his story to the others, he was able to regain his love of being Spider-Man again.

On the otherhand, if we look back on Sam Reimi's Spiderman 2. It has ended up with Doctor Octopus to sacrifice himself to stop the reactor but due to the events that took place within this film, he will be alive once they get back to their universe.

Spider-Man: No Way Home was a super hero film which the first idea that we had in our head was that it will only offers amazing fight scenes for us to watch and this was true to this film but it even goes further and lets me ride on a roller- coaster of emotions. They were also really nail it with the nostalgia factor with the appearance of Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spiderman which also have their moments to shine and was able to further help emphasize the meaning behind the words "With great power comes with great responsibility" to help Tom Holland's Spider-Man character growth. It's just so balanced and made sense overall to the general idea of Spider-Man and the introduction of Multiverse to the film side of MCU. I'm really glad that this movie was made and I was able to watch it on the big screen.

That was all for me. Thank you and see you at the next one.
