Do you remember Minnal Murali and the actor Tovino Thomas and Director Basil Joseph? They are really a pair. Basil is also a talented actor. So, when I saw the ad on Netflix about a movie that had these two besides Darshana whom I felt was not given her due recognition for an earlier movie that she had done, I decided to watch this one. Make sure to watch this superb movie which is all about a group of friends who live happily until one of them goes missing.

The movie begins with a scene where the birthday boy is ragged by his friends and they all have a jolly good time. To the group belongs a psychologist who is in love with a housemate who belongs to another religion but with the help of Vinod, their good friend, they get married. Meanwhile, Vinod and Shyam plan a 'startup' and funds are short but they manage to rope in an investor.

Things go smoothly until one day Vinod disappears and the police come searching for him. At first, the friends think of it as a prank until they realize that Vinod is a conman.

The friends decide to search for his contacts in Mumbai where they meet a friend who informs them that he had left in the same fashion and Vinod's mother who is quite fed up with her son's antics.

The friends return to their house in Banglore after one of them spots Vinod and they corner him but he tells them to stop coming after him and shrugs them off. The friends are bewildered and upset and of course, disgusted with his behavior.

Abrupt ending after the suspense?

Some people reviewed the movie and said that the ending was a put-off but if you follow the story closely, it is a brilliant one because it shows plainly that Vinod is a conman who does not have commitments and always finds new people to 'prey' upon. The way he shows his tattoo 'mother' and tells them that every time people fall for his story reveals his criminal mind and the friends walk away.

This movie is also a warning to never trust anyone completely unless they are very familiar and have their backgrounds checked properly. many people usually get conned if they are a little bit careless. I have known many relatives of mine being duped by such people and each time, it is the same story but people never learn.

With the help of the internet, one can always check the activities of people and judge them based on their stuff rather than jump into dealings and lose horribly. It is always wise to double-check before investing money too.

Dear Friend is a good movie worth watching and although suspense is present, it is not about horror or violence and is an enjoyable experience.
All the actors have played their roles with ease without making it look shabby and the script is also very good.

I hope you will be able to watch this movie with the help of subtitles and enjoy it.
