CINETalkies : Lets talk about Cinema (10/27/2021)

Thanks to @raymondspeaks for sharing the above blog and encouraging us to write a blog about Indian cinema.

Ok, so here goes.

I live in India. So, it is relatively easier to write about something I grew up watching. Over the years, Indian cinema/movie industry has progressed and the transition from a usual movie theater to multiplex has been smooth.

The only thing that is a put-off is the snacks section because people are not allowed to take in their own snacks or drinks like before but have to pay fifty times the price for a popcorn tub.

The last time I watched a movie, it was the Fantastic beasts second part and we chose a vegetable roll instead of popcorn.

Anyways, enough about snacks.

Today, I will write about a favorite movie of mine that I watched.

It is a story of four brothers who live near the backwaters in Kerala. Three of them are old enough to be employed, they often end up quarreling and drinking booze and fighting with each other. The house is uncared for and even a cooked meal is a scarcity.

The youngest brother who lives in a hostel returns home after his exams and tries to bring harmony. Meanwhile, a neighbor girl who fancies the second brother tries to befriend him and succeeds in making him work for a living. The third brother is dumb but a tourist fancies him and moves in with him in the house. The eldest brings home a friend's wife along with her child after her husband passes away.
The neighbor girl's brother-in-law resists her love for the brother and openly says so but she opposes. He acts like a psycho and hurts all of them but the other three brothers come together and rescue all of them who had been assaulted and tied. The movie ends on a happy note.

It is not an extraordinary story but what made it so was the acting by Fahadh Faasil who played the role of the psycho. The songs are also good and the backdrop is beautiful.

The movie was a hit and the people of the state really enjoyed it. Also, the 'chemistry' between the actors made it a flawless watching experience for the viewers.

Speaking of Fahadh, he is a versatile actor who can essay any role with ease. He ought to be tried upon by the Hollywood movie industry and awarded the best actor prize because he is the best actor.

There are good movies in other languages that I watch. I recently came across a Bangla movie - Obhimaan that was really good. I also saw a remake in Kannada language. The story was good enough and so I watched it with the help of subtitles. Thanks to OTT platforms, viewers in India are able to watch any language movie without any problem. The 'Great Indian Kitchen', a movie in Malayalam was much talked over by the Indian audience.

The movies I mentioned are featured by Amazon prime. So, if you are free, please do watch it.
