🎬 2026 Movie #5 | The Baltimorons (2025)

January Movie Marathon Month
I have grown a bit of a tradition in January to watch all the 'Youtuber Top 10 Films Of The Year' videos to catch up with everything that was potentially good in the previous year. The month is now over and I only watched 9 movies so far with the aim to continue it into February.

The Baltimorons (7.0/10)
This movie also gets a 6.9 score on IMDB on just 3.8k votes and these kind of movies I tend to be willing to give a fair try as more than often I either find them ok or they are a very positive surprise. Some movies that come in my mind spontaniously as some like these are Dan In Real Life and Cedar Radpids which I enjoyed way more than the scores they were getting. For The Baltimorons though, it was more or less on par with the score that it gets.

The Story
The movie takes place in a single day / evening in Baltimore where a guy who breaks his tooth on Christmas Evening finds a Dentist to get it fixed which is followed by some situations where they end up spending the evening together going from one place to the other with some romance growing during that time. In essence, I would say this is a Improv-Stand-up-comedy movie as the main guy character is / was an improv standup comedian. So there are a lot of improv jokes of which some are funny but other parts are less. Overall, the movie really takes you on the journey of the evening which it did very well and it was easy to enjoy following the events.

Where it falls Short
This probably is a personal thing but I'm not into improv comedy especially shows as I rarely find them funny. One part of the movie has them visiting an improv comedy bar where the main character ends up on stage and the improv comedy he brings is just not funny and rather cringe. So that is the only real part where this movie falls short for me. It's an improv comedy movie where a large part of the humor is just not funny (at least not to me). Despite this, I still enjoyed watching it from start to finish.

Conclusion
I would say, if you are into rather obscure not so known movies that are still quite good or really into improv comedy, The baltimorons might be something for you. As someone not into improv comedy, I still would kind of recommend it to myself on a day where I need something lighthearted and uplifting since I enjoy movies that show a journey during a short period of time. 7.0/10
