I think I have at least a month worth of movies collected from Instagram and after The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, The Green Mile, a movie based off of Stephen King's Story was next.
I know Stephen King to be a wonderful, genius author even though I'm not a particular fan of the horror genre, yet this movie wasn't horror so I'll be alright... Or so I thought.

Plot

Paul Edgecombs is the head guard of Cell Block E of Cold Mountain Penitentiary and the big boss in charge of the green mile.
Paul has overseen the execution of many a convicts for a long time, but the year 1935 is one that's forever etched in his mind.
The year that John Coffey walked the green mile.

I'll have to say, when I downloaded and began the movie, the 3hrs run time really gave me second thoughts but the reviews were good and Instagram hadn't failed me before so I took a deep breath and dove right in.

The story was amazing. A simple plot filled with easy to remember characters who do hard to forget things.
The casting for these characters made them even more amazing, Tom Hanks ate his role, like it's not easy to love a white Prison guard in a movie but he made it seem so easy.

I loved the character of Edgecombs, a man who understands that they being prisoners on death row doesn't make them less human.
In such times when crimes could be incredibly exaggerated and the penalties are usually more than needed, it was clear that some of their verdict's were fishy.

We also get to see it from the eyes of the prisoners. How they see and interact with Edgecombs makes you realize that they may be killers, mad men, thieves or innocent, but when given respect you'll gain respect, trust and a bond.
They trusted this man enough to be killed by his hand and that's one of the strongest bits of the movie.

This movie doesn't have one main antagonist, some may argue that it's Billy The Kid, some may say that it's Percy Wetmore, yet in reality the antagonist is everyone, it's the entire human race, we're the horror of it all.

Explaining this bit would give a major spoiler so I wouldn't, but I do tell you to ready your heart and mind as you watch the movie.
Or do not and be like me hiding my sobs and cleaning my tears in the office.

This movie was beautiful, a lovely story portrayed by gifted actors, one that you are ensured to like.

Debo decir que, cuando descargué y empecé a ver la película, sus 3 horas de duración me hicieron dudar, pero las críticas eran buenas e Instagram no me había fallado antes, así que respiré hondo y me lancé de lleno.

La historia fue increíble. Una trama sencilla llena de personajes fáciles de recordar que hacen cosas difíciles de olvidar.
El casting de estos personajes los hizo aún más increíbles. Tom Hanks se lució en su papel; no es fácil querer a un guardia de prisión blanco en una película, pero él lo hizo parecer tan fácil.

Me encantó el personaje de Edgecombs, un hombre que comprende que estar presos en el corredor de la muerte no los hace menos humanos.
En tiempos como estos, cuando los crímenes podían ser increíblemente exagerados y las penas solían ser más de lo necesario, era evidente que algunos de sus veredictos eran sospechosos.

También podemos verlo desde la perspectiva de los presos. La forma en que ven e interactúan con Edgecombs te hace darte cuenta de que pueden ser asesinos, locos, ladrones o inocentes, pero cuando se les respeta, se gana respeto, confianza y un vínculo.
Confiaron lo suficiente en este hombre como para que los matara, y ese es uno de los momentos más impactantes de la película.

Esta película no tiene un antagonista principal; algunos argumentarán que es Billy el Niño, otros que es Percy Wetmore, pero en realidad el antagonista es todo el mundo, es la raza humana entera, somos el horror de todo.

Explicar esta parte daría un spoiler importante, así que no lo haría, pero les digo que preparen su corazón y mente mientras ven la película.
O no lo hagan y sean como yo, escondiendo mis sollozos y limpiándome las lágrimas en la oficina.

Esta película fue preciosa, una historia encantadora interpretada por actores talentosos, una que seguro te encantará.
