I'm excited to share my personal review of the 2016 drama film "Sully" but also this is my first time ever on a blogging contest, doing it for fun and hope for the best. As a fan of both aviation and Tom Hanks, I was thrilled to watch this film and see the story of Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger come to life on the big screen. For those who aren't familiar, "Sully" tells the story of the heroic pilot who successfully landed a damaged Airbus A320 on the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 passengers and crew on board.

Now, I know what you're thinking - "how could a movie about a plane landing on water be exciting?" But trust me, this film is anything but dull. It's a thrilling tale of courage and skill, showcasing the bravery of Captain Sully and his crew in the face of an incredibly challenging situation.

At first when I saw the movie didn't have the full perspective of how hard its to pull this off, but lucky me in my family there are several individuals who are commercial pilots, from my sister, uncle, brother in law, two of my cousins and one day discussing the movie with my sister she gave me more details of how hard and things you need to take in consideration, like speed, temperature, technology, altitude, and how many things could go bad.

Whether you're a fan of aviation, Tom Hanks, or just a good old-fashioned drama, "Sully" is a movie that you won't want to miss.

The "Miracle on the Hudson" has always held a special place in my heart. I feel identified with the movie because I wouldn't want something like this to happen to any of my family involved in aviation, you could lose your life in the accident or end up in jail for not following proper procedure. I never heard of this incident in the news or papers, this happened in 2009 and I was very disconnected from international news.

Watching "Sully" brought feelings of admiration and made me appreciate the incredible work that pilots and flight crews do every day. I also found myself drawn to the themes of bravery and leadership, and the way the film explores what it means to be a true hero, a true captain, the one that goes down with the ship.

I think it's a movie that will resonate with anyone who has ever been on a plane or admired the incredible feats of human ingenuity and courage. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or a newcomer to the world of aviation, this is a film that you won't want to miss.

In this friendly and informal review, I will get into some of the details of the film 'Sully,' exploring its captivating plot, standout performances, and impactful themes. With a focus on my personal connection to the subject matter and the ways in which the movie speaks to audiences, I aim to provide a comprehensive and engaging evaluation of this thrilling tale of bravery and heroism."

Cast and Performance

Tom Hanks is one of those actors who can do no wrong, and his performance as Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger is no exception. From his commanding presence to his understated delivery, Hanks brings a sense of authenticity to the role that is truly impressive.

One of the things that I admire most about Hanks' performance is the way that he captures the humanity of Captain Sully. This is a man who is facing an incredible amount of pressure and scrutiny, and Hanks does an excellent job of overcoming the weight of that burden in his performance. Whether he's facing down skeptical investigators or grappling with his own feelings of doubt, Hanks brings a real sense of vulnerability to the role that makes Captain Sully all the more relatable and human.

Another standout aspect of Hanks' performance is his impeccable timing. Whether he's delivering a tense monologue or a witty one-liner, Hanks has a real sense of comic timing that helps to lighten the mood at just the right moments. This is especially important in a film like "Sully," which can be quite tense at times, and I think that Hanks' performance helps to keep the audience engaged and invested in the story.

Overall, I think that Tom Hanks is the perfect choice to play Captain Sullenberger, and his performance is one of the highlights of this film. Whether you're a fan of his work or simply appreciate a great performance, I think that you'll be impressed by what he brings to the role in "Sully."

Another standout performance comes from Aaron Eckhart, who plays First Officer Jeff Skiles. Eckhart brings a sense of levity and humor to the role that helps to balance out the more serious moments in the film, and his easy teamwork with Hanks makes for some of the film's most memorable scenes.

Additionally, the supporting cast, including Laura Linney as Captain Sully's wife, are all excellent and bring a sense of depth to the film. Whether they're playing characters who are supportive of Captain Sully or skeptical of his actions, each of these actors delivers a memorable performance that helps to make "Sully" a well-rounded and engaging film.

One of the things that I appreciate most about "Sully" is the film's underlying messages and themes. At its core, this is a movie about the importance of experience, preparation, and quick thinking in the face of adversity. Through the story of Captain Sully and the "Miracle on the Hudson," the film shows how a combination of skill and quick thinking can help us to overcome even the most seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

Another important theme in the film is the value of perseverance. Despite facing intense scrutiny and criticism, Captain Sully never wavers in his conviction that he made the right call in landing the plane on the Hudson River. This resilience in the face of adversity is a message that is particularly relevant in today's world, where it can often feel like everyone is second guessing and overthinking everything.

"Sully" also touches on the importance of human connection and the role that our relationships and support systems play in helping us through difficult times. Whether it's the bond between Captain Sully and First Officer Skiles, or the unwavering support of Sully's wife, the film shows how the love and support of those around us can help us to overcome even the most daunting challenges.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I highly recommend "Sully" to anyone who is looking for a well crafted film with strong performances, thrilling action, and a powerful message. Whether you're a fan of aviation, action films, or simply good storytelling, this is a movie that is sure to captivate and engage you from beginning to end.

Another thing that makes "Sully" so compelling is its attention to detail. The filmmakers did an incredible job of researching and recreating the events of that day, and they bring a level of realism and authenticity to the film that is truly impressive. From the flight instruments in the cockpit, to the dialogue and interactions between the crew and passengers, everything feels incredibly true to life. I also ask for the pilot's opinion about the movie, if it's realistic enough and they agree it is.

As a result, you find yourself fully invested in the story and its outcome, which only heightens the tension and excitement of the film. The film's use of visual effects and special effects is also noteworthy, as the filmmakers create a stunning and believable scenario of the crash landing on the Hudson River.

The film also has a great soundtrack, which help to harness the film's tension and provide a fitting backdrop to the film's dramatic moments. Whether you're a fan of classical music, "Sully" has a soundtrack that is sure to fit the mood of the film.

In conclusion, "Sully" is a truly outstanding film that is sure to leave a lasting impression on audiences. With its incredible attention to detail, powerful performances, and thought-provoking themes, this is a film that is not to be missed. Whether you're a fan of action movies, dramas, or simply good storytelling, "Sully" is a movie that will leave you entertained, inspired, and uplifted. So be sure to check it out, and see for yourself why this film is being hailed as one of the best movies based on real events.
