Naruto is an anime in which the darkest characters can have a sensational background. In fact, Itachi was always one of my favorite characters, although I didn't really like how they developed his backstory arc, nor the decision he made in order to save his own clan. The redemption he had with Sasuke, and their subsequent battle was pretty epic. In the end it left a good taste in my mouth.

I totally agree with you. I didn't agree with his decision either, but in the end, he redeemed himself. Maybe he didn't have the best ending, but he had that of a hero.
