¡Hola, queridos amigos cinéfilos! El día de hoy vengo con una reseña y también con una recomendación para todos aquellos que me leen por este medio. Hace poco me disfruté de esta serie, de producción mexicana llamada Mentiras: La serie, transmitida en la plataforma de Streaming Prime Network. Quédense leyendo un poco más y descubrirán por qué deben salir corriendo a sintonizar esta maravilla.

Hello, dear movie lovers! Today I bring you a review and a recommendation for all of you who read my blog. I recently enjoyed this Mexican series called Mentiras: La serie, broadcast on the Prime Network streaming platform. Keep reading to find out why you should rush to tune in to this marvelous show.

Nunca he sido de telenovelas. Sin embargo, cuando me enteré de que esta serie de 8 capítulos era un musical, obviamente me llamó la atención porque me encantan los musicales. Y sé que la mayoría dirá: "Ay no, que fastidio con los musicales". Pero puedo asegurar que este en particular te dejará atrapado durante horas.

Cuatro mujeres muy diferentes son llamadas para presentarse en un lugar al que han sido convocadas para darse cuenta al llegar de que Emmanuel Mijares, lo único que las une, ha fallecido y están en su velorio. En este momento descubren, que las estuvo engañando a todas. Daniela, la princesa, a la que nada niegan y todo le sale bien, la esposa de Manuel Mijares está personificada por Belinda. Dulce, una mujer entregada a Dios, decidió dejar de ser novicia para casarse con Emmanuel, también su esposa, encarnada por Diana Bovio. Lupita, la secretaria perfecta y bilingüe que está dispuesta para todo momento para su jefe, por Mariana Treviño. Y Yuri, la mejor amiga de Daniela y Emmanuel, la que resuelve, con Regina Blandón.

Todo esto ocurre en una época conocida por todos, y el musical, por lo tanto, también. Y no cualquier música de los 80, sino la más famosa en español: la balada pop. La música utilizada para este utilizar, son canciones que todos conocemos y que lo más probable es que la hayas cantado a todo pulmón con tu mamá, abuelas, tías e incluso, con alguna amiga en un Karaoke. Aquí escucharemos canciones de Amanda Miguel, Yuri, Emmanuel, Miguel Bosé, incluso de María Conchita Alonso, y muchas más.

I've never been into soap operas. However, when I found out that this eight-episode series was a musical, it obviously caught my attention because I love musicals. And I know that most people will say, “Oh no, musicals are such a drag.” But I can assure you that this one in particular will keep you hooked for hours.

Four very different women are summoned to a place where they realize upon arrival that Emmanuel Mijares, the only thing that unites them, has died, and they are at his wake. At this point, they discover that he was deceiving them all. Daniela, the princess, who is never denied anything and always gets her way, Manuel Mijares' wife, is played by Belinda. Dulce, a woman devoted to God, decided to give up her novitiate to marry Emmanuel, also his wife, played by Diana Bovio. Lupita, the perfect, bilingual secretary who is always ready to help her boss, played by Mariana Treviño. And Yuri, Daniela and Emmanuel's best friend, played by Regina Blandón.

All of this takes place in a time period familiar to everyone, and so does the musical. And not just any music from the 80s, but the most famous in Spanish: pop ballads. The music used for this production are songs that we all know and that you have probably sung at the top of your lungs with your mom, grandmothers, aunts, and even with a friend at karaoke. Here we will hear songs by Amanda Miguel, Yuri, Emmanuel, Miguel Bosé, even María Conchita Alonso, and many more.

Esta producción es adaptado de una obra de teatro y fue llevada a la pantalla chica por Luis Gerardo Méndez, quien también encarna a Emmanuel Mijares en la serie. Hay muchos detalles maravillosos a destacar en esta producción, pero la más importante, es la calidad vocal de las cuatro protagonistas que dieron todo de sí para demostrar que no necesitamos de una producción hollywoodense para crear algo digno de competir con cualquier otra serie o película. Quiero sacar a colación lo asombrada que me dejó Belinda, que ha marcado un precedente que la consolida como la gran artista que ha querido ser desde que la hemos visto desde niña. La actriz que interpreta a Dulce, Diana Bovio, también merece todos los halagos del mundo. Es una increíble actriz y excelente cantante.

Sin embargo, todo el show se lo roba Mariana Treviño con su representación de Lupita, una insuperable actuación. Perfecta, atrevida y muy hilarante. Les aseguro que amarán este personaje.

También le doy 10 puntos a todo el diseño de producción que estuvo completamente adecuado, contextualizar y muy acertado con respecto a la época. Se notó que hubo mucha investigación por parte de la producción para poder diseñar algo a este nivel. Tiene unos pequeños aspectos técnicos en cuestión de edición que solo podrían notar los que tenemos el ojo afilado para estos detalles, pero nada que entorpezca con el disfrute total de esta tragicomedia.

En cuanto a la historia, es un culebrón digno de México. Perfecto. Nos da drama, traiciones, romance, comedia, engaños y muchas mentiras. Les aseguro que les va a encantar. Tomen a sus mamás y a sus abuelas y siéntense a disfrutar de esta serie en familia. This production is adapted from a play and was brought to the small screen by Luis Gerardo Méndez, who also plays Emmanuel Mijares in the series. There are many wonderful details to highlight in this production, but the most important is the vocal quality of the four protagonists, who gave their all to prove that we don't need a Hollywood production to create something worthy of competing with any other series or film. I want to mention how amazed I was by Belinda, who has set a precedent that consolidates her as the great artist she has wanted to be since we saw her as a child. The actress who plays Dulce, Diana Bovio, also deserves all the praise in the world. She is an incredible actress and an excellent singer.

However, Mariana Treviño steals the show with her portrayal of Lupita, an unsurpassed performance. Perfect, daring, and very hilarious. I assure you that you will love this character.

I also give 10 points to the entire production design, which was completely appropriate, contextualized, and very accurate with respect to the era. It was clear that a lot of research went into the production in order to design something of this caliber. There are a few minor technical issues in terms of editing that only those of us with a keen eye for detail would notice, but nothing that detracts from the overall enjoyment of this tragicomedy.

As for the story, it's a soap opera worthy of Mexico. Perfect. It gives us drama, betrayal, romance, comedy, deception, and lots of lies. I assure you that you will love it.
