¡Saludos, comunidad! Después de unos días de paro forzado, vuelvo a escribir. Hoy vengo a traerles un poco de amor, risas y una película excelente para ver este domingo. Se trata de Nonnas, una película que vi solo porque no tenía más nada que hacer y porque me sorprendió ver a Vince Vaungh en un poster después de mucho tiempo.

Greetings, community! After a few days of forced downtime, I'm back to writing. Today I'm here to bring you some love, laughter, and an excellent movie to watch this Sunday. It's called Nonnas, a movie I saw only because I had nothing else to do and because I was surprised to see Vince Vaughn on a poster after so long.

Joe Scaravella es un obrero en una fábrica que acaba de recibir una herencia de su madre reci[en fallecida. Por un momento no sabe que hacer con eso, y entre el duelo y el verse sin ningún tipo de futuro, decide abrir un restaurante. Pero este restaurante es completamente diferente, sus chefs serán abuelas de la comunidad, esas que tienen las mejores recetas, la mejor sazón y las que nos recuerdan a casa.

En cuanto vi esa premisa, lo único que pensé fue: ¡Que buena idea de negocio! Involucra un negocio real que involucra a la comunidad, no puede salir mal. Pero emprender no es solo tener dinero, es tener visión, constancia y una cadena de soporte que te ayude a salir adelante.

Joe Scaravella is a factory worker who has just received an inheritance from his mother. For a moment, he doesn't know what to do with it, and between mourning and seeing himself without any kind of future, he decides to open a restaurant. But this restaurant is completely different: its chefs will be grandmothers from the community, the ones who have the best recipes, the best seasoning, and who remind us of home.

As soon as I saw that premise, the only thing I thought was: What a great business idea! It involves a real business that involves the community; it can't go wrong. But entrepreneurship isn't just about having money; it's about having vision, perseverance, and a support network that helps you get ahead.

Mientras exploramos las viscisitudes que pasa Joe al intentar levantar un viejo restaurante con ayuda de su mejor amigo, Bruno (Joe Manganiello) que además es contratista, también personifica a las personas que nos ponen en frente las cosas buenas y malas de levantar un negocio. Pero lo más importante son las historias de estas Nonnas, quienes no necesariamente son abuelas, hay abuelas, solteras, con familia, sin familia, viudas y con miles de historias que contar detrás de cada receta y de cada sazón. Yo les aseguro que tendrán un entretenimiento asegurado (y algunas lágrimas también) al ver como estas mujeres también tienen una segunda oportunidad en sus últimos años de vida útil.

La película de Netflix creada específicamente para ser un formato para TV dirigida por Stephen Chbosky (Wonder, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) , nos vuelve a trer una pel[icula memorable que va directo al corazón al introducir una película que impresionantemente es basada en la vida real. Lo que me impresionó más fue darme cuenta de que estaba basada en la vida real, y al saber esto, estuve mucho más feliz al darme cuenta de que si tiene validez todo el conocimiento que he hecho a lo largo de los años y que tengo un excelente olfato para saber cuando a un negocio (o una app) tiene futuro.

As we explore the ups and downs Joe experiences while trying to revive an old restaurant with the help of his best friend Bruno (Joe Manganiello), who is also a contractor, he also embodies the people who show us the good and bad sides of starting a business. But most important are the stories of these Nonnas, who are not necessarily grandmothers. There are grandmothers, single women, women with families, women without families, widows, and thousands of stories to tell behind each recipe and each seasoning. I assure you that you will be entertained (and maybe shed a few tears) as you watch these women get a second chance in their twilight years.

The Netflix film, created specifically for TV and directed by Stephen Chbosky (Wonder, The Perks of Being a Wallflower), brings us another [memorable film that goes straight to the heart by introducing a movie that is impressively based on real life. What impressed me most was realizing that it was based on real life, and knowing this, I was much happier to realize that all the knowledge I have gained over the years is valid and that I have an excellent nose for knowing when a business (or an app) has a future.

Lo que si les aclaro es que no van a ver la última joya del cine, pero si una buena película para disfrutar en familia mientras comen chucherías un domingo como hoy. Aunque es necesario que les diga que aún así, fue nominada como mejor serie para la TV para los Emmys de 2025, así que mi percepción no está tan mala con respecto a esto.

Me gustaría saber si ya tenían conocimiento de esta película, si la vieron o si la van a ver. Si aún no lo han hecho, notifiquenme cuando lo hagan para así ver que les pareció. Recomendación: no vean esta película con hambre o van a sufrir. Un abrazo a todos, y espero que continúen publicando.

What I will say is that you won't be seeing the latest cinematic masterpiece, but it is a good movie to enjoy with the family while eating snacks on a Sunday like today. Although I should mention that it was still nominated for Best TV Series at the 2025 Emmys, so my opinion of it isn't all that bad.
