The Gilded Edge | Season 3 - Review

Greetings, my dear movie lovers! Yesterday, something both funny and disconcerting happened to me. I had written an entire review of a series that I had already reviewed months ago because I thought I had forgotten to do so. Fortunately, just as I was about to choose the photos to accompany my post, I had a moment of déjà vu. I searched my blog thoroughly and realized that I had already done the task. I deleted everything I had written, even though I thought it was better than the first review. But that's not how this community works, and I wasn't going to get away with it. However, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth, and I decided on something much better. I would start finishing all the series I haven't finished watching, starting with the latest one, which I'm here to review: The Gilded Age: Season 3.

Ayer me pasó algo tan gracioso como desconcertante, había escrito toda una reseña de una serie que ya había reseñado meses atrás porque pensé que había olvidado hacerlo. Por fortuna, y justo cuando estaba a punto de escoger las fotografías que acompañarían mi publicación, tuve un déjà vu, y busqué bien en mi blog y me di cuenta de que si había hecho la tarea. Borré todo lo que tenía escrito, que incluso me parecía de mejor calidad que la primera reseña. Pero así no funciona esta comunidad, y no iba a salirme con la mía. Sin embargo, me quedé con un mal sabor de boca y decidí algo mucho mejor. Empezar a darle fin a todas las series que tengo sin terminar de ver, empezando por la última y la que vengo a reseñar: The Gilded Age: Tercera temporada.

The Gilded Age is a period drama that portrays New York high society during the Victorian era. At this time, we saw how one of the most popular cities in the world today began to take shape in terms of business, construction, the railroad era, and of course, the central theme: romance.

This series is a typical television show to watch after a long day at work. It features relationships between the cast, fashion, and plenty of drama, but don't expect a spectacular production; it's simply cozy.

The Gilded Age es un show de época que retrata a la alta sociedad de New York durante la época victoriana. En esta época, veíamos como una de las ciudades más populares del mundo en la actualidad, empezaba a tomar forma, en cuanto a negocios, construcción, la época de los ferrocarriles, y por supuesto, el tema central: el romance.

Esta serie es un típico show de televisión para ver después de una larga jornada de trabajo. Tiene relaciones entre el cast, moda y mucho drama, pero no esperemos una producción apoteósica, es simplemente cozy.

Here we have three main stories involving three families that are intertwined. The first family is the Van Rhijns, a long-established and highly respected family that has been on the verge of bankruptcy, but thanks to some plot twists, they have been able to overcome their vicissitudes. There are several characters here, starting with Marian Brook, a woman of marriageable age who has had very little luck in love, but who this season has found someone who may be the one. She is under the protection of her aunts Ada Forte and Agnes Van Rhijn, played by Cynthia Nixon and Christine Baranski.

The second family is the Russells, the nouveau riche, who have built a railroad empire dominated by Mr. Russell, played by Morgan Spector, alongside the matriarch, Bertha Russell, played by Carrie Coon, who, with great effort and extravagance, seeks to be accepted by high society, while trying to secure a good marriage for her daughter, Gladys.

And thirdly, we have the Elliots. This season, the whole family took center stage, showing the rarely portrayed side of black people in high society who built and fought against segregation, although it was not as pronounced as in the southern states. But it is important to give visibility to these types of stories and everything that happened to them in society.

Aquí tenemos tres historias principales con tres familias que se entrelazan. La primera familia son los Van Rhijn, una familia antigua con mucho renombre que ha estado a punto de quedar en la quiebra, pero gracias a algunos giros de trama, han podido superar las vicisitudes. Aquí tenemos varios personajes, empezando por Marian Brook, que es una mujer en edad casadera y con muy poca suerte en el amor, pero que en esta temporada ha conseguido a alguien que quizás sea el adecuado. Ella está bajo la protección de sus tías Ada Forte y Agnes Van Rhijn, interpretadas por Cynthia Nixon y Christine Baranski.

La segunda familia, son los Russell, los nuevos ricos, quienes han construido un imperio de los ferrocarriles dominado por el Sr. Russel, interpretado por Morgan Spector, a la par con la matrona, Bertha Rusell, interpretada por Carrie Coon, quién con mucho esfuerzo y derroche, busca la manera de que la alta sociedad la acepte a ella y a su familia, mientras intenta que su hija, Gladys, concrete un buen matrimonio.

Y en tercer lugar, tenemos a los Elliots, en esta temporada toda la familia tuvo más protagonismo, mostrando la moneda poco retratada de las personas negras de alta sociedad que construyeron y lucharon en contra de la segregación, aunque esta no era tan marcada como en los estados sureños. Pero es importante darle visibilidad a este tipo de historias y todo lo que ocurría para ellos en la sociedad.

This is a very Bridgerton-style show, and if you like this type of story, you're sure to enjoy all the drama. After three seasons, what I like most is knowing that we can still enjoy it without detracting from the story. It's also worth clarifying that, although it sounds very interesting, it's not a drama with a deep story; it's still fiction, with a very entertaining cohesive plot, and that's why I recommend it.

Este es un show muy estilo Bridgerton, y si te gustan este tipo de historias, es muy seguro que vayas a disfrutar de todo este drama. Después de tres temporadas, lo que más me gusta es saber que aún podemos disfrutar de esta sin desmejorar la historia. También es pertinente aclarar, que aunque suena muy interesante, no es un drama con una profunda historia, sigue siendo ficción, con una trama cohesiva muy entretenida y esta es la razón por la que la recomiendo.
